The lad has started going in there a bit and we got talking about it.
I always found it a strange boozer.
The revolving doors. Can't think of many boozers I've been in with that.
Always reminded me of going into the lobby of a hotel, I assume I think was a long time ago?
Used to go see a few bands upstairs and a few football do's too.

Anyone shed any light and any memories of the Haworth?
 
Used to go a bit in the late sixties. I recall it was a studenty/hippy sort of place as opposed to an out and out boozer, not too difficult to get an underage (which I was) drink and a fair few unattached women there too. Could usually rely on having a night in there without there being too much bother.

I used to go in there in the early 70s - if you left your beer it was collected up and put back in the swill to be served up from the pumps the next day - nice

Always used to be possible to get into a state of well being without consuming any alcohol in there.

Remember it well. '63- '65. My best man (we honoured each other that way for our respective weddings over here about 10 years later) used to work as a barman in there @ weekends, while I worked as same in The Duke of Cumberland in Ferriby. We both used to usually work Fridays & Sundays, occasionally Sats, but when we didn't have Sat. shifts we'd meet up in the Haworth for a few before buggering off to the Student Union's dance at U. of Hull on Cott Rd. His parents lived on Ash Grove off Bev Rd. so many a Sat night I used to crash on his lounge settee (was too pissed to ride my bike back to Hessle). Some good bands @ the dances and plenty of birds, so Haworth Arms was essential for the Dutch courage.
Funnily enough, when I came over to Canada in the early 70's, my parents split up & dad moved from Hessle to Aukland Ave, so on my visits back home we'd often drop into the Haworth Arms for a couple of pints.
Don't remember the revolving doors however, the whole world was revolving in those days !
We still get together every Sat morning here to listen to City's game commentaries.

Edit: Having just spotted DJ's post, we'd also drop into the Gardner's before strutting our stuff at the college dance opposite I seem to (vaguely) recall. Wasn't that opposite and have a lot of glass windows ?

Think the Haworth is where most start out if my memory serves, prob cos it was such a student pub you could get away with being a bit young, started off down there around 98 as we hit 6th form, gradually making our way up Newland Ave and typically on to Room or La Las.....good times
 
Late nineties was a brief period when bev road was a good night out.

Think we would generally start early in gardeners then on to Haworth and turnpike. Then a bit of a stroll to mainbrace and various other pubs/bars.

Haworth was always studenty. Would run offers for 'em.

Was either Haworth or hogshead where my mate drank Bailey's from his shoe.

Haworth used to be a Scream pub for a while - student bait. I haven't been in for a few years, similar feel to Old Grey Mare IIRC. Not bad, probably the best on Beverley Road these days, in my opinion.

Old Grey Mare seems to be just selling itself as a sizzler menu place rather than a pub.

Haworth is still studenty. That and Gardeners end up being the first place on a night out which will usually end in Piper, Tofts or Asylum.

We often used to start at Haworth. then Gardners and finish off at Locarno.

P.S. Anlaby Park used have revolving doors I think.

Can remember a few pubs, not just in Hull, using revolving doors in the 1960s. Politer, more orderly and civilised types around then. It was when our generation became old enough to drink it became a problem, everyone in a rush wanting to be first in and lacking in the patience of our parents generation.

Used to quite like Turnpike in the 90s - big circular bar I recall.

Also, saw some half decent touring comedians there too
