Further than that. I have family scattered all over the South from Weymouth, Poole, Wimborne, Winchester, Havant, Eastleigh and they are all Saints or Pompey fans. Just to add to the above. None of them live in Southampton or Portsmouth itself nor ever have. So the catchment area is very very large and this I would think is one thing that the club are trying to build on now that Pompey's demise has left us pretty much a giant club in this region compared to those that share the area. A bit like Forest used to be from Nottingham to the east coast. Virtually the whole of Lincolnshire was closer to Forest than any other major club.
There's too much extra time on Mars, your fingernails would be gnawed to the quick. Also the carbon dioxide would play havoc with the pitch, it would be hard to control The Moss.
How would that compare to a pitch in the middle of a jungle with 80% humidity? Im thinking World Cup venue here. Certain Mars would be no worse than Qatar.
Good..! Get rid of the gasometers. I understand that they have a listed status about them, which prevents them from being demolished unless something better can be done with the area. Well I can think of something. How about a dedicated railway station for Out of City and Away supporters..?
A railway station that is only used 19 times out of 365 days a year? Don't think that will pay-back somehow.
I guess if they built another station at South Western House / Ocean Terminal it would start to look a lot more feasible?
I cannot believe anyone considers the Gas storage thingys going a good thing. (Music starts, summat like that Empire bit from Star Wars) We are British, we are Southamptonaise, we are passionate about Gas Holder Thingys. Stand up for tradition, Half Backs, Laces on footballs, The Southern League (Div2), Rattles, The Great Escape (every year). Shame on you all.
