Can't see an expansion any time soon, but I totally agree about the need to attract kids for the future. Hard to do offers when the ground is full already.
People who think we can regularly fill a 50,000 seater stadium are probably the same ones thinking we will be in the Champions League soon.
It would be a gradual thing anyway. They aren't going to to go from 30 to 50 just like that. They will do one extension each season. That will mean 1st season we will actually be losing capacity. 2nd season probably the same as it is now, 3rd season slightly up with 2 sides done so there ya go. start next year and we need to get CL in 2018/9.
Southampton has a population of 253,651. Let's build a stadium holding 250,000 (realistically, around 3,000 people will always be working when a match is taking place)
I've noticed this before with you CBK, and it's that you appear to assume people are talking about now, or tomorrow, or 1, 2, 3 years ahead. Think 10, 20 years ahead and there is plenty of time for things to change. Nothing is impossible. It may be that as far as you and I are concerned it might as well be impossible because we may not be around to see it, but that doesn't mean it is out of the question. And for things to happen in 10, 20 years the motivation has to start now.
Very true and our population is only going to increase over that time frame and the flow of immigration will mean the increase is at a faster rate
CBK - the Saints catchment area isn't just Southampton is it? Include Eastleigh, Winchester, Salisbury and probably down as far as Bournmouth to the west - boosts the numbers for the purposes of a feasibility study! LOL
Oh I don't know. The would be no need for floodlighting during evening games, the match would look sensational in slow motion, and since the pies are like nothing on earth, it seems perfectly appropriate.
Ignoring the obvious wind up I have to say the artists impression in the original post is quite awesome. If that happens in my life time, I will die a happy man!
I don't know if this has been mentioned but apparently putting new floodlights into the stadium, which are a brand new design and apparently is like "playing in the daytime".
