No that's not the case at all and leads me to the conclusion that no you don't play football. It's not about following him all over the pitch, you keep your shape and if you're left you stay left but it's about inside the box and that's when you talk to your team mate and pass your man on in those situations and pick the big man. This should already be sorted before the game and Keane should have stood up and said he was taking Slimani for free kicks and corners because that's what I would have done, back myself against their best player and take responsibility. I've played at a high level and played for and with ex-pros and I know what I'm talking about, this is basic stuff. Fact is Keane marked nobody first goal and Slimani lost Mee. Second goal he should have been picking up Slimani because he was right not left but again did nothing.
Yeah they didn't give us 10%, I was there the season before when we drew 1-1 and we had about 4500-5500 I think, it defo wasn't anywhere close to 10%.
And any manager (at any level) would have told you exactly what he expected you to do, not just allow you to do what you want for vanity.
I understand that but I've also never played for a manager that hasn't been happy with centre halves swapping players at set pieces, in fact it happens pretty much all the time. It's also about telling your manager that you want the responsibility and again I've never had anyone say no when I've put my hand up and said "I'll have him". A manager wants to see their players taking responsibility, especially centre halves. It also comes down to your managers confidence in you and recognising your strengths. I thrived on marking their best player so I was given the responsibility of picking up their best player, usually the fastest during open play and the player with the biggest aerial threat from set pieces. So why didn't Dyche think Keane was the man to mark Slimani? Surely if he's that good you tell Keane to mark him not Mee?
Why didn't fans desperate for tickets snap up the Ines paid for away at Goodison. Such fantastic away support and massive demand....... So you tell us all?
As I keep saying it was on telly on a Sunday and people didn't want to waste the money knowing we were making a lot of changes and not caring about the result because we had already reached 40 points. I've already shown you evidence of all away tickets being sold and also Palace which was on a Saturday and wasn't on telly, Face it Everton aren't a club to get excited about playing, you're nothing and have a crap ground.
So your fans, the dedicated and desperate only want to watch games on TV. So the line about all games being sold out/attended was a lie.
Also Everton away isn't a game that anyone gets excited about so if those who usually go to away games don't fancy it or can't afford it because of CL games, then it's not a game that those who don't usually go will decide to go to, especially not when it's on a Sunday and on telly and you know we're resting half the team. If it had been a big club we would have sold out regardless but you're not.
No, you said it sold out. Tobes pointed out only half of the fans turned up. To be honest I don't pay attention to the away fans. But you are telling us all that away tickets are in such demand.....
Hold on, you tell us you sell out, people who can't make the games can sell tickets on and there is a massive demand.
So your dedicated, hard core away support only go to games against big teams on days when they have nothing else to do (barbeques, homework and such) or where the points mean something. Am I to take it that Everton was the only away game after you reached 40 points or is that bit just a bull **** excuse? Its a **** ground , most away supporters go to watch a match and couldn't care less about their surroundings. You had a CL game mid-week after it, never heard any other team use that excuse before
Yeah but he plays/played football and knew more about Ham his manager and would always mark the best player in the pitch and Maguire is well worth £17m. Hull were relegated and they could have paid less, but they didn't want to get stuck with Keane.
As I've pointed out we sold out everywhere else so just accept that not that many people could be arsed to go. Everton also isn't a game I ever got excited about, first time yeah but after that and I knew how crap the stadium was and how rubbish the view is, it stopped becoming exciting, along with a large number of grounds. Never had that feeling going to Old Trafford or Anfield for example, or even places like WBA, Villa and Stoke which have the local feeling to get excited about and no matter how many times I go I still get excited about it. Everton doesn't possess that feeling for anyone as far as I'm aware. Most people don't even consider Everton has a top club and most can't remember you winning anything. I remember the 80's when you were good though and know what you've not won since! I mean it's pretty embarrassing that we've won more than you in the last 30 years and we've been out of the PL for a decade and in League One.
Like I said earlier, maybe Everton just made the mistake of thinking you had a large away support so allocated more tickets than you could fill.
I just took responsibility and had the ability to mark their best man because I'm a decent player. It was also expected of me to take responsibility and I thrived on it. I still play open age football every week now even though I'm 41 but I'm back playing up front again now. Maguire cost us £12m as I've said multiple times not £17m. That's with add-ons.
Well they don't consider Everton a big club. They had a CL game and all the fans desperate for an away ticket couldn't be fussed either. Just wait till Maguire is bossing it, they will be back among my the elite of The Championship before we know it
So I'm safe to say the add ons won't be activated. It's a good job you keep mentioning your credentials as a top footballer who people expect to take control......keeping a level head is something hing you haven't managed here.
