The BBC gossip column says that the Times are claiming that if Chelsea cannot reach agreement with the FA about the use of Wembley while their cesspit is redeveloped, they will discuss with West Ham the possibility of using the London Stadium. Very odd as it is not West Ham's stadium to let. I don't subscribe to the Times so I'm not sure if it's the BBC misreading or the Times getting it exceedingly wrong
Got to be an April fools day thing mate.

Martin Keown has said that, if Ross Barkley wants to continue improving, he should turn down a move to Spurs and stick with Everton

It's not as if Spurs are managed by a someone with a reputation for getting the most out of young players or anything...

And the latest Danny Murphy attempt in the ES to get a 'Pochettino must win trophies or
players will leave' Narrative (TM) steamroller going.

Isn't a 3 year time limit actually very liberal, Danny ... ??

Talksport has a show on atm called press pass where various journslist talk football.
2 things stand out so far on tonights show.
1) "the title is chelsea's cos when they lose their rivals all drop points too...City, Arsenal and United all dropped points so the gap hasn't closed"

Personally I think the title is still theirs to lose but why no mention of spurs?

2) when discussing Wenger one of the journalists said that if you were a young player you would not chose to play for Wenger. Conte, Klopp, Guardiola and Mourinho are the front runners ahead of Wenger.

Presumably Pochettino is no where too!

Meanwhile, a cursory check of the Spurs section on the Standard's website reveals this headline: Manchester United 0 West Brom 0: Jose Mourinho's side held at home again as top-four hopes hit hard

What the **** has that got to do with Spurs?

Irrespective of club affiliations, Pochettino is the only stand out coach for any young player to lean towards. Total media bollocks as usual. <doh>

Martin Keown's (previously mentioned) hatchet job from the other day sums this up better than anything else. Any pundit whose opinion is worth a damn can run off a list of players who have improved under Poch's tutelage, be it at Spurs or Southampton - yet Keown was adamant that if Ross Barkley wants to improve, he should stay at Everton, even though his career had stagnated under Martinez.

Amended - but in agreement :emoticon-0148-yes:

As long as the "pundit" sheeple don't become ITK on the 'Rashford to Spurs
in the summer' story before tis too late, let them bleat on.

Here's something that's been bugging me for a while: whenever Jason Cunny mouths off about us he's always described as "Former Chelsea player Jason Cunny" - yet here's his career statistics:
Chelsea: 41 games
Spurs: 28 games
Ipswich: 55 games
Portsmouth: 9 games

Based on those statistics, shouldn't he be described as "Former Ipswich player Jason Cunny"...or is that not on-message for Chelsea TV?

He seems to have averaged about 10 games a season throughout his career.
Former part-time player might be more accurate.

Reactions: Spur of the Moment
Fantastically lazy journalism from Transfer Tavern...

With Chelsea having lost over the course of the weekend, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have a renewed sense of hope in regards to the Premier Leauge title.

While Spurs have some catching up to do if they are going to be considered genuine challengers, Mauricio Pochettino’s vibrant young side are continuing to impress.

In fact, so much so that there have been big reports in regards to some of the homegrown players impressing so much at White Hart Lane of late. According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen on the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

Now, Spurs have somewhat of a history of selling their best players, though fans online do not believe Pep’s City slickers have much of a chance in landing them, citing the notorious Dan Levy as the main stumbling block.

I'm not sure which deserves derision more: yet another hack journalist trotting out the repeatedly debunked lie that Spurs are a club that exist by selling their best players, or the fact they couldn't even spell the word LEAGUE properly.

That red squiggly line is there for a reason y'know...

Campbell
Carr
Carrick
Keane
Berbatov
Modric
Bale

These are THE seven players we did not want to sell who left because:

A) they run their contract doen and left on a free transfer (campbell)

B) refused to sign a new contract with only 2 yrs remaining and the club was not going to gwt into another Campbell situation (Carr and Carrick)

C) Demanded a move and became disruptive or intimated they might
(Berbatov, Keane and Modric)

D) agreed to sign a new contract but demanded a move at the end of thd following season if we did not qualify for the CL (Bale).

Now, I ain't knocking Bale ( as, on the whole, he was respectful to us as a club when he left) but none of our current players are doing or saying the things he did prior to leaving us.
But the others (with the exception of Carr) all treated us pretty badly or appallingly.

But the issue is that we were forced in each case to lose the player because of the player behaviour not cos we chose to sell them.

So that is 7 players in 16 yrs and this makes us a selling club.

Adebayor
Clichy
Song
Toure
RVP
Cole
Sagna
Henry
Fabregas
Nasri
Viera

This is the Arsenal list of players who left when Arsenal wanted them to stay in the same 16 year period.
All of them bar Adebayor went on to win League titles, Cups and European Trophies yet arsenal are not called a selling club even though they have been forced to sell more than we have by over 50%

rcl :

1. Bale was disrespectful to the club with that final week strop.

It may have at the minimum cost the club at least 15m (according to ITKs) .

2. The Goon situation was worse, as they were allegedly TITLE CONTENDERS
(not PL top 4 incumbent wannabees) and they strengthened rivals who then
went on to win PLs while the Goons did not.

Meanwhile defender Luke Shaw, 21, wants to leave Old Trafford and move to Tottenham, which would see him link up with his former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino. (The Sun)

<doh>
Who, apart from some idiot hack at The Sun, working for Murdoch's Sky empire, actually believes this?

Why would Luke Shaw come to Spurs when he will be sitting on the bench whilst Rose is fit?
