He won't be on the bench. He's more than likely going to play with Lucas & Gerrard in a midfield 3. He'll be ahead of Adam and probably Henderson because he's already used to the way Rodgers likes to play and more suited to it than Adam. Also what £7mil from us? If you're talking about the amount we paid for Rodgers I heard it was more around £4mil?

Ah ok, fair point - forget about the other backroom staff that came as well. You say it gives you £7mil for someone else but will you get someone to come in straight away and be as good as he was for that kind of money?
Quick question, was Laudrup a free agent so to speak...? I agree with Biscan. He won't be on the bench. Gerrard and Lucas would be in the middle with Siggy in front of them if we play the 4231 type system. Failing that, I'm sure Siggy would be an improvement on Henderson for the right hand side, especially with Kuyt and Maxi having left the club.
Has Maxi left? I thought he was still here and dismissed rumours he's gone back to Argentina? Don't think Gylfi would play wide right, based on Gerrard's crossing ability to Carroll I'd rather have him out there out of the 2 of them. Also I think Laudrup was free, he left Getafe last year.
I don't know a lot about Siggy to be honest, was just guessing he would be a better option. I know he isn't a winger but I don't think we need that on the right since Johnson provides the width and trickery. I thought Siggy would be more an AM along the lines of a J.Cole or Kranjcar that starts from a wide berth? I thought Maxi had left but not having checked, I could be wrong. I reckon he'll leave at some point but even if he does, he is rubbish on the right. All his best stuff comes when he is on the left Edit: yeah, Maxi is still on the LFC website squad list Cheers for the Laudrup bit too although I thought his last club was Mallorca...?
Oops, my bad, yes he left Mallorca in 2011 after the club sacked his assistant manager. Agree Maxi is better on the left - still think we need a proper right winger & forward if we do get Gylfi. Apart from that, probably not a lot more else we need at this moment - hopefully Downing, Carroll & Henderson have a better season and then 4th should be a realistic target.
I want a winger too . I don't think we can ignore a problem because we want to give a player (Downing) a chance. Maybe we need a winger that can play on either side such as a Jarvis or Adam Johnson (not saying either of these, just examples). I don't think Downing can, like Maxi, he looks poor on the right too. With the way Carroll ended the season and how he has played for England, I am starting to get my hopes up that Carroll will come good this year. I just hope he keeps in shape after his participation in the Euro's and doesn't go on his festival drinking fest... I believe that, given time, Henderson will become a very good player for us. He reminds me of when Lucas arrived but unfortunately he's been thrown in the deep end rather than being able to learn from players of Alonso and Mascherano stature. Obviously, Gerrard's been around for both. Charlie Adam is the one that concerns me. I never thought we should have signed him and feel he is out of his depth at Liverpool. I am not even convince he would be a good squad player.

Cole isn't a CM, Aqualani will probably move to Italy for cheap. Spearing will be used a lot less with Lucas back. Wonder if it's worth loaning Shelvey to a lower Prem club for first half of the season.
Just for the record lads, Laudrup came on a free, secondly Siggy plays in the midfield, just behind the striker, which is Gerrard's position, hence why I said, I doubt, he'll get a game if Gerrard stays fit! Anyway maybe Rodgers has another idea...........
Aquas agent is expecting to hear back from Liverpool this week. There is a chance he will stay. Would love Shelvey to go to the Swans on loan for 6 months
Yeah, I'd agree with Biscan here. Aquilani as made it perfectly clear that he does not want to be playing football at Liverpool and will go back to Italy whether that be a transfer or on loan. Should we end up paying his wages again if he goes on loan I will be truly pissed! Cole is not a CM, if he returns then I expect him to play on the wings or occasionally behind the front man. Spearing will indeed become a back-up player again and, as like last year until the injuries to Lucas and Adam, Shelvey will go out on loan. However, there are strong rumours about an addition to that list in Diame. Believe it when I see it and all that though
Gerrard played as part of a two man central midfield last year with Suarez and Carroll up top. Shelvey, Kuyt, Maxi and Henderson played more games in the hole then Gerrard too
