Yes the excitement in the first half was on a par with watching an episode of neighbours. I was at the start of the season inclined towards giving Guidolin a chance but am now becoming concerned . If we are going to change our manager we must learn from last season and not leave it too late.

I'm worried about Guidolin, but I also have reservations about Giggs. He has very little personality when you watch him on TV. He's not a particularly inspiring listen is he ? Would he be able to fire the team up ?

A group of players managed by the most successful British player ever and can't get fired up to play for him? That would suggest that those players would need kicking out. Something which Giggs would do.
A Giggs appointment would give the club the boost that we should have got in the summer resigning Joe Allen. Love or hate him, Giggs is a legend of the game and would do wonders commercially and I reckon managerially for us.
100% no brainer for me when the alternative is sticking with a bloke that plays full backs as wingers. Even if Giggs doesn't come across as the most enthusiastic talker, he'll lift these players just walking into the dressing room. Guido just doesn't have the status in British football to do that.

I see that and I get what you say, I am 50/50 what concerns me is that yes he will have the respect of the players, but has he got it in terms of coaching and putting game plans together, that concerns me. I suppose it would depend on his coaching staff. one thing for certain is he could not do worse than Guidolin, can he or could he keep us up I am not sure.
I'd think that he must have picked up a lot from Fergie and Van Gaal to a lesser extent. I just think it's what the club needs as we'll go down if Guido stays. Hull home (I know it was our 1st home game and it was a bit early to call) was the game I thought we will badly struggle this season. Players should have been up for that and they weren't at all. All looked lethargic and a performance like that can set the tone for the season. Guido has to take the blame. Shame as he seems a good bloke and I'd defend him over Taylor and Ki but I don't think he's won the players over and don't think he can. He'd probably still make a good manager in Italy where he can communicate in his 1st language and where the style is different. I don't think he can get the players up for a game and it translates in his interviews. Ex pros on Talksport have said the same and I can see it.
I know some people say that Giggs would be a mistake because of his lack of experience but just look back at out recent History
Martinez, no experience, Sousa, little experience, Rodgers little experience, Laudrup not much experience. All were relatively inexperienced managers and none of them had any experience what so ever of the premier league. The most experienced manager we've had in decades is Guidolin and just look how he's doing.
Out of the lot Giggs has the most experience of the premier league than any of the above. It may have been as a player but he played in the most successful team at the time and played for the most successful premier league manager ever. Something has to have rubbed off don't you think. I think he'd be an excellent choice for us.

Anyway, we should be looking for ability over experience and due to his history Giggs I feel would have that in abundance. There is nothing he hasn't won as a player but now, instead of putting his feet up for the rest f his life, he wants to get stuck in as a manager. I'd give him the job in a heartbeat

I sort of get it, but when we employed Martinez we were league 1 and it was no risk, with Sousa he had managed in the championship with Qpr, so had some experience in the league we were employing him and I believe his record was pretty good. I might be wrong there. I am not sure you can say Laudrup didn't have much experience before us he had managed 4 clubs 2 of which were in Spanish PL and 1 in Russia and had managed at nearly 250 games before he came to us. what worries me with Giggs is he has no experience and what experience he does have as an assistant is working with top class players. I get he has Pl experience as a player extensive, but that doesn't make a manager/coach. I may be shooting myself in the foot here but how many top class and I mean top class Pl players have gone on to manage in the PL as their first job and been successful, off the top of my head the closest I can get is Hughes.

Quite a good piece in the WOL, but I do worry they want to give him more time, but I have to agree there should be a little more fingerpointing than just at Guidolin, So lets start with him and get rid and go from there.

It is looking for gems and buying cheap that has put us in this position. Managers are not stupid they can see what we all can see and here we go again trying to get a super star player with no manageable experience as boss.....It beggars belief that we are not trying to persuade something we are desperate for and that is a solid manager who has premiership experience.....nothing else will do.......Giggs dont fit the bill...
Can't say I agree regarding an experienced prem manager. Mark Hughes has plenty of experience, how are Stoke doing? David Moyes, how are Sunderland doing? Experience does not equal success. Look at Guardiola. First managerial position was Barca. They put talent ahead of experience and it paid dividends.
It's no secret that Giggs was being mentored by arguably the greatest ever manager in the game (Fergie) to be the future of Manu. They decided to go a different way and appoint experience and it went tits up. For me Giggs would be a very shrewd appointment. However, it kind of feels pointless talking about it because I've completely lost faith in the boards ability to act when necessary and can see Mr Negative here until the new year, when it may already be too late.

However, the Yanks have paid top dollar and must be keen to protect their (personal) investment........
Giggs could be an inspired choice and would raise our profile, and the way we are viewed, overnight. Additionally, he could attract decent players - who would you rather play for Guidolin or Giggs?
That said, whilst I believe that Guidolin will have to go, I'm on the fence about appointing Giggs.
Bring in Mike Pheelan as his number 2 and René Meulensteen as head coach.

I was told last night and it is a complete rumour, that Guidolin will not be sacked but moved upstairs as a DofF and Zola will e the new manager. As I said no substance just something I was told last night.
