You've seen Sakho and Cissokho play a lot in Ligue 1/La Liga then yeah?? <confused> If Sakho was a big step up from Skrtel he wouldn't have been let go by PSG.

Toure is so mediocre, you can't be serious in him taking Agger's spot.

Sakho and Sissokho. Toure does not have to 'step up'. Wisdon and Kelly are already here and have Premiership experience. Add to that Agger and Skertle. That looks a strong and progressive defensive unit to me. I nearly forgot we also have Illori to develop further.

You obviously haven't seen much of Liverpool this season. Toure is not a replacement for Agger. If you can't marshal your facts - go away!

Yes mate, BeIn sport in the US, have a look at the leagues they show. <ok>

Clearly on the wum here as I said Sakho to take Agger's spot. Might want to read over everything before you post!

I already said your defence was good... not conceding in three games doesn't surprise me. But three games is not a yardstick. We conceded less than you last season, fact. And we had the 2nd highest percentage of goals conceded being from individual errors (and most of those from Vermaelen in the first half of the season).

Jenkinson would not actually be first choice, Sagna would. And Sagna is about even with Johnson.
Toure even with Koscielny?!
Agger better than Mertesacker?!
Gibbs and Enrique about even agreed

You have a bit more depth... that's about it. You've not signed anyone who'd really improve your defence, just players to bulk out the numbers.

Anyway, if you honestly believe Toure is even with Koscielny and that wasn't a WUM comment then there's no reasoning with you and we might as well end the debate here as we'll not agree about anything.

Look through my posts, I don't WUM, I have an opinion which I believe I'm entitled to, and whilst I may not agree with comments made by others, I respect the right everyone has to an opinion!
Fans by nature are fickle and tribal, we'll all back our own, at times with blind faith.

On "current" form I wouldn't mind either of Toure or Koscielny in my team.. Last year, I'd agree Koscielny was better than Toure, but then again, Toure didn't play much.
Koscielny is good but isn't he behind our new signing, Sakho in the pecking order when it comes to the French National Team? (Could be wrong..) If so, does that make him better than Koscielny?

Regarding Agger better than Mertesacker.. why the Chuckle? apart from being good in the Air what else does Mertesacker do/offer that makes him, in your opinion better than Agger? No looking for an argument, just extending the discussion...

Dave, GK is also part of the defence, just my opinion but I think Mignolet is none too shabby <ok>

Fool. I was quoting one of your OWN fans on that point. If you can't marshal your facts - go away!

Watching who you are calling fool sonny! Now go back and READ what Bluff actually said. You'll find that he never suggested that Toure was a direct replacement for Agger.

So go away

Can't really explain Mertesacker. By all rights he doesn't look that good. But he just always seems to be intercepting everything, tackling everyone and being in the right place. He started off poorly but has grown into a very strong player for us now. Him taking over from Vermaelen coincided with our defence turning good. I don't think necessarily Mert is better than Agger... there's no way Agger is better than Mert. Pretty even.

No idea about the French national team at the moment, neither of Kosc or Sakho play much do they? Thought I know Kosc is in the squad for the coming qualifiers and Sakho isn't, is he injured?

Bluff City... I misread your post, apologies for that. Still can't see Toure being anywhere near your first team though, whoever it's next to... he's so mediocre. He can look good in small doses, but in the long run he'll cost you.

That is where we still have Skrtel ( who can be liability), Kelly ( injured a lot), Wisdom ( young but getting games at RB, similar to Micah Richards I think), and the new signing Illori ( can't comment on him as I don't see much of portuguese league).

For Agger and Sakho that should be tasty compeition and it is only recently that Sakho has gone on the skids a bit. It can happen and for some reason he was being frozen out at PSG. Think he will be perfect for the prem and hopefully the physical presence we have been looking for.

I am still worried about if Lucas gets injured but that is a situation I think you guys still find yourselves in. For us it was Mascher for many years, for you Viera in terms of that monster in the middle.

Fair enough, Mertesacker did for you guys what Carra did for us? Sort of being overlooked/derided even belittled by opposition fans?
I guess equal would be fair then, Mertesacker is a defenders defender? Where Agger is the modern, ball playing defender?

Regarding the French team, no idea as well, but from Wiki (I know, poor sauce), Sakho when fit and playing he usually gets a game, his non-inclusion is down to lack of game time so far this year for PSG I believe..

Also, think the CB's for France are Rami and Mangala at the moment with Koscielny in the team. With Sakho not playing ( could be due to head turned and the transfer) was probably a big reason he is not in there.

Cini, Man City fans wanted him to stay and I must say from what i've seen he look a lot better than Lescott

For us (Toure) hes been really good in his games, 3 games, so thats not bad to say hes settling into a new team

So good in fact we were crying on here when he got injured V Notts County as the Utd fixture was looming (we hadnt signed Sakho and Llori by then) but luckily Skrtel was on hand and put in a great preformance. We now have a nice headache <ok>

I think for both teams the deeper midfielders are just as important to not conceding. Lucas vital for you... Arteta/Flamini for us.

Still amazed a Diame or Mulumbu hasn't been looked at by a big club yet in the prem. I know this player needs to fit the styles but it is always good to have that cover. Yacob for WBA is not bad either and bit more of a player than the two mentioned. Argies always have that bite about them.

I thought we'd have got a dm but I think its quite obvious that if Lucas gets injured again Stevie will be put there which I have mixed feelings on really (Allen MUST NOT be put there BR!)

Do we have any Dm in reserves just out of interest? Coady?

So do Uruguayans and look where that got us!
