If the club can afford Ozil but the fans can't afford the odd shirt i'm happy. If it was the other way round there would be an issue :p

Ozil is a great signing for your lot, the only thing I don't understand is why you weren't willing to spend that sort of money on Higuain or another big name striker?

We were willing to buy Higuain, we couldn't match Napoli's offer. We delayed it too long because some ass at the club believed the rubbish about the Suarez release clause

Fair enough. Here's one for you then, would you rather have got Suarez than Ozil?

I never wanted Suarez in the first place for the non footballing reasons. Aside from that maybe, I rate Ozil slightly higher as a player but maybe striker was a position that needed reinforcing more.

With the rivals tax I don't think there was ever a chance of getting Suarez for £42m anyway

    Shock Horror Gasp!
Fan no longer wants player when said player doesn't come to fans team..
Said player, who was deemed world class now no longer able/deemed worthy of tying shoes laces of Emmanuel Eboue

    Just ribbing ya fella..
The "non-footballing reasons" you didn't want him for were the same reasons I wanted to get rid of him for!
Purely on the footballing side, he's one of a very few "world class" players left in the league, Ozil now being one of them too!

You mean the current back 4 who've conceded 1 goal in 4 games and conceded the 2nd lowest goals in the premier league last season and less than Liverpool? 8 goals in the last 14 prem games of last season once Vermaelen was chopped?

    Arsenal Defenders:
    Jenkinson (Flamini)
    Koscielny (Vermaelen)
    Mertesacker (Sagna)
    Gibbs (Monreal)

    Sound.

    Liverpool's defence:
    Johnson (Kelly, Wisdom)
    Toure (Skrtel, Coates)
    Agger (Sakho, Illori)
    Enrique (Cissokho)

Your defence is pretty good but still weaker than ours (as evidenced by conceding more goals), you've just filled it out with equally slightly above average defenders.

You seen a lot of Cissokho, Sakho and Llori then have you?

Slightly above average defenders? Why are you so arrogant?

I understand you're trying to defend your team but there isn't one of the Arsenal players you highlight that I would swap for the memebers of the Liverpool defensive unit.

BTW, we haven't conceded any Premiership goals this season but I seem to remember that you have already LOST a game.

    Agree and Disagree.
You conceded a whooping 6 goals less than we did over the season, we actually kept more clean sheets than Arsenal last year, Pepe himself had 14 and I think Jones was involved in a shut our or two.
Our issue last year was when we conceded in a game, it was more often than not in 2s and 3s where Arsenal rarely conceded more than one goal.

    With regards to the following:

    Arsenal Defenders:
    Jenkinson (Flamini)
    Koscielny (Vermaelen)
    Mertesacker (Sagna)
    Gibbs (Monreal)

    Sound.

    Liverpool's defence:
    Johnson (Kelly, Wisdom)
    Toure (Skrtel, Coates)
    Agger (Sakho, Illori)
    Enrique (Cissokho)

Glen Johnson > Jenkinson, both going forward and defensively!
Kocielny = Toure, however Sakho is being bought in to replace him, but I won't grade him, he's not even kicked a ball in anger yet!
Mertesacker < Agger, both aren't blessed with speed but whilst Mertesacker maybe better in the air, Agger is better all round ball playing Defender.
Gibbs = Enrique, Gibbs much better going forward, Enrique a better defender.

If anything we've got a bit more depth to our defence and if we remain disciplined should concede fewer goals this year.
Also, wouldn't count Coates, if he wasn't injured he'd have left the club.

    Gibbs isn't too bad...
But more than happy with our LB options.

I already said your defence was good... not conceding in three games doesn't surprise me. But three games is not a yardstick. We conceded less than you last season, fact. And we had the 2nd highest percentage of goals conceded being from individual errors (and most of those from Vermaelen in the first half of the season).

Jenkinson would not actually be first choice, Sagna would. And Sagna is about even with Johnson.
    Toure even with Koscielny?!
    Agger better than Mertesacker?!
Gibbs and Enrique about even agreed

You have a bit more depth... that's about it. You've not signed anyone who'd really improve your defence, just players to bulk out the numbers.

Anyway, if you honestly believe Toure is even with Koscielny and that wasn't a WUM comment then there's no reasoning with you and we might as well end the debate here as we'll not agree about anything.

Koscielny ****s all over Toure. One of the best CB's in the league at the moment. Had a fantastic season last season and has kept some of the best players in the world quiet over the last couple of years (my favourite being him dominating Messi).

He's one of our best and most consistent performers throughout our whole team.

I seem to remember Suarez making that same Arsenal player look at complete fool on more than 1 occasion. In terms of the jobs that they do in our defence I will still with my evaluation.

Who've you signed that you're confident are a big step up from what you've already got in defence?

When they're on form and not dicking around, Agger and Skrtel can be rock solid (admittedly Skrtel is not the most consistent performer ever).

I can't. When was that? He's only had one good season and last year you lost 2-0 to us at home and 2-2 at our place. He scored a goal? Is that your definition of making Arsenal players look like fools?

Sakho is a big step-up mate! Actually amazed you guys never went for Sakho or Cissokho ( not just now, but years ago when he was mint for Lyon). We needed to have that competition in the back as in terms of quality we were light, especially LB for me.

Think Sakho could be taking Agger's spot by the end if I am honest and we could see Johnson, Toure, Sakho, JE/Cissokho. If they can get the shape and communication correct, our defense has just improved in all aspects of the physical side of defending, pace, dealing with balls in the air, set-pieces, etc.
