So yes it was an area people wanted another man. There where justo ther areas that needed improving as well. We gutted a lot of deadwood from the squad so needed a few players (which we didn't get all of).

You don't get it. Your fellow Scousers were posting tosh about Arsenal earlier on this article. I'm just calling them on it. Have no qualms with what you think about our players. Just find it amusing to see how the earlier comments backfired so miserably.
I've posted what I feel about you signing Ozil, I think it's a VERY good signing, I fail to see how he won't improve your team, a player of his quality will immediately improve any team.
However, I do agree with some who are saying that the £40m could have been used else where, a striker is what you need tbh, more so than a cm.

Those player suggestions were clearly a piss take because we never expected Wenger to cough up the money. However, the point posters were making still stands despite you guys signing Ozil. The reports from the media and claims of many Arsenal fans was that you would be signing three or four top quality players and you had something between £100m and £120m to spend!

I agree with most of this, but don't think it's a case of where the 40m could be used best. We still have enough cash that we could have made another 40m purchase if we had one lined up. It has to be looked at as an individual transfer and it is a fantastic one, as you say he would improve any team.
I'd have liked to see us bring a striker in as well but we will have to wait until January to get that done.
Don't think it would have hurt to have thrown £40m Dortmunds way to see if you could have gotten Lewandowksi. I know he has his heart set on Bayern but you never know.
A few of our fans had the same idea but i think Lewnadowski had already turned his nose up at potential moves to other top european clubs and is pretty much content to see out his contract.
Hopefully in January we throw about ~40m and see if we can land Suarez/Rooney/Benzema/Any of the other really Top strikers that are about. I think Arsenal are a top quality striker away from being serious title contenders.
Seriously doubt you'll get Suarez tbh mate, we wouldn't accept £40m in the summer so why would we accept £40m in January? He wants to leave no doubt, but he'll leave in the summer IMO, he looks happy in all of the pictures that we've seen so I reckon he'll wait, play the best he can and look to move abroad in the summer.
Rooney may be a possibility, reckon you'll get him for £40m, and no offence but Utd won't see you as much as a threat to them and they would see Chelsea.
Think your best options are either Rooney or Benzema, however I think Benzema will stay, unless they sell him to get Suarez in.

Dortmund ended up buying him and he is one of my favorite players but Aubameyang from St. Etinne would have been good for you guys. Lightning quick, good finisher, can create his own shot, good movement. Think he was bought for 18 mil euros.
