Snippet form a Daily Mail Article "Arsenal tried to resurrect their interest in Luis Suarez on Sunday night but their efforts were instantly rebuffed by Liverpool. Upon meeting up with his Uruguay team-mates yesterday, the striker said: ‘I closed this subject a while ago. I have already taken the decision to stay at Liverpool.’ Arsenal also failed to secure deals for Real duo Benzema and Angel Di Maria, as well as missing out on Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano." So looks like Arsenal could of tried there luck again on Sunday wonder what offer they came in with.
Which is testament to Sturridge more than a criticism for Luis. Most Liverpool fans know that Suarez is a top quality player but a **** as a person, they will accept Luis in the side but he needs to earn his place back.
has one signing in arsenal's strong area gotten the troops back out. Ozil is a fabulous player so who's losing out? carzorla, wilshire.... its a long way from the 3/4 players we heard about. di maria was never on so it will be interesting to see where wenger plays ozil now.
He'll play him down the middle with Cazorla out left (which we needed considering Podolski's injury). He slots straight into the team without anyone missing out. Great signing.
I showed up on this thread as soon as i hear yout lot where keeping tabs on our transfers actually! I do not regularly frequent your board so it was only when someone mentioned Liverpool fans putting down the Ozil transfer that i decided to head on over Please don't feel that your required to talk to me though, it really isn't neccessary.
Ozil made 50+ appearances in all 3 of his seasons at Madrid, he is one of there most regularly used players. When they won the league title he was voted as part of the team of the year. He has more assists than Messi and more key passes than Xavi. He is truely World Class. The Madrid fans are incredibly pissed off that Ozil has been allowed to leave. But with Bale comming in they needed cash and needed to off-load one of there AM's. Barca fans are celebrating Madrid losing Ozil. I completely agree we needed another striker though. Giroud is great as a CF and he had a decent first season which he seems to have developed from and is scoring in every game at the moment. With Ozil in the team he will get even more opportunities to score so i'm not too worried about him being our main striker. The problem is if he gets injured as Podolski is currently out with an injury. Hopefully our current crop will see us through to January when we will make another big money signing for a top striker. I think with Wenger trying to get Ba on loan it shows he only wanted a stop gap until he can bring in someone of "top quality" a "specia player". I also agree we could have used an extra utility defender to provide cover if we get 2-3 injuries to the back-line. It may or may not become a problem, we shall have to see. At least Flamini can cover the FB'sand Sagna can slot in at CBif required. As for Ozil's wages he is on somewhere between 115k and 135k a week from my best guesses (figures between those two seem the most commonly reported).
If Sisu wants to express HIS opinion about Ozil on the Liverpool board then he has every right to do so. Matters not if you like it or not. Matters not if others agree with him or not. As for putting down the Ozil transfer. I didn't see anybody say the player was crap. The majority said that he was the wrong player as you needed signings in other areas. As far as I am concerned that is fair comment. If you don't like what we say or think then keep away, it's as easy as that!
Ozil is a top quality player, there aren't many better than him IMO but this is far from a quality signing. You clearly need defensive players, a combative midfielder and (IMO) and keeper too. Your team has improved slightly because Ozil is better than anything else you have in that position but would have significantly improved had the £42m been spent on a CB and DM instead.
Crazy question (particularly for any Real Madrid fans that might be lurking on here)... Who would you rather have? Bale at £85m or Ozil at £42m...? Even if they were the same price, there is no comparison for me. Ozil is a better player than Bale IMO.
Come on now! If Ozil had been the answer to a maiden's (sorry Arsenal) prayer then you would have been discussing the prospect for weeks. Have you - NO Have you been talking about another midfield player - NO. Have you coveted everybody's forwards - YES He's a good player but the wrong player!
Why are you trying to argue with me? Grow up lol. Sisu decided to comment on ME not Ozil and so i commented back about why i posted on this thread. Because of my previous dealings with Sisu i made it clear i didn't intend to end up in an argument with him. Not sure how your taking my comment as me trying to tell Sisu he isn't aloud to comment on the Liverpool board. You seem to be just looking for a reason to moan at a rival fan.
According to the press, a small number of Madrid fans were chanting for Ozil at Bale's presentation. Which differs quite a lot from afcftw's claim "The Madrid fans are incredibly pissed off that Ozil has been allowed to leave."
I can't see anything negatiove about the Ozil signing he's a world class player, he may not be the answer to Arsenal improving but still you've got to be happy getting a player of that quality. As far as Suarez goes he will obviously come in for Aspas and the combination of Coutinho, Studge and Suarez is something I'm very much looking forward to.
I'm actually asking why a visiting fan keeps coming over here and always being involved in arguments? Yes it pisses me off especially when you think that you have the right to lecture other fans on what is right and wrong. Even the mancs have grown up enough to realise that the mere mention of their clubs name is not an alarm for them to go on the attack. Why do you?
Ozil improved our first team. Any CB would be a back-up option since Kosc+Mert is a fantastic pairing and wouldn't want to disrupt it considering Arsenal had the second best defense in the league last season. For a DM we have brought in Flamini and i don't think Wenger will ever go for a huge enforcer type it just doesnt fit with his style of play. I would have liked to see Bender come in, so i'm not disagreeing a defensive minded midfield player would be useful. But i have to disagree with you that spending the 40m on a DM and CB would have been better for us. The CB would be a back-up and there are not a huge amount of players who are clearly better than Arteta/Flamini. I get the point your trying to make, but you should have gone for different positions. For the first team its the Striker role and as you say possibly the DM that needed improving the most.
Mate i think you need to go back and read the comments again and have a think about what your saying. I came over and sicussed Ozil sensibly with otehr fans, Sisu specifically targetted me to try and start an argument. I've made it clear i won't be arguing with him. Whats so aweful about that? Again, please stop trying to look for a reason to agrue with me just because im not a 'pool fan...
