Sure players need to arrive, but we can still play the long term planning game. If we finish 14th with 45 points on a tiny/young squad who we just pulled together, then that's a perfectly good platform to move on from. A year of PL experience on Prowse, Reed, Targett, Gallagher puts them closer to the first team (and no we won't just sell them). It's still important to get the players Ron wants and not whatever we can get. Yes it will be more painful than last year...but it was always going to be.
Even if we do spend a lot it seems like we'll struggle to spend half of what we're getting in. The rhetoric is that it will all be available for transfers, that might be true, but if we can't spend it, where does it go? Will we spend in january for a change? The last two January windows we've had a manager change and a chairman resignation, so maybe we could be more active in future.
So let me get this right....Liverpool finished 2nd and now doing most of their shopping with the team that finished 8th....and their star man has fooked off....no chance of finishing top 4 this season maybe 6/7 th if they get a 25 goal striker in. I don't think Sturridge will be the same player without Suarez.
Nor have I, it is unprecedented. There was obviously a big breakdown between board and squad way before we got to close season. They should of seen this coming or if they did?? had some sort of contingency plan or fixed the problem?? Unfortunately, I honestly now think we still haven't seen the end of it. Schneiderlin keeps getting muted with North London. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Fonte (Cardiff have made 2 bids) and Cork with only one year left on contracts are gone at some point. Would seem new faces will be coming in and hopefully lots of them, will they settle, gel quickly etc?? not ideal. The big positive is Ronald Koeman, big fear, did he know wtf he was walking into!!
As long as we get the players we need in before September 1st, then we can at least be a little more hopeful. If we don't, then that's where even more problems begin to start.
Sunderland rebuilt their whole team last season, bought a load of **** and still stayed up. We can keep ourselves clear, for sure.
Yes and no to this. For example I put something about Rodriguez in another thread where his leaving was mentioned. Now it seems more relevant here, so do I have to repeat it?
It's all too much for some...
Well if we are that weak now it's a huge mess. At some point the board have to stand up to this, before there is no one left
What?? Correct me Beefy if I'm wrong, you normally do. Are you saying all our players wanting to leave is down to Pochettino??
Not all but some. He 'allegedly' (I have to say that) talked to Rodriguez and Lallana. He talked to Jay back on March saying much he rated him and want Jay to join him at his next club(DTLW will tell you more). He met Lallana a month before the end of the season and had a 'meeting' with him. If he can do that **** I don't know what else he 'may have' been up to with other players.
So how do you know that??? Told three were leaving, not the whole f*cking nucleus of the team. No manager has built a squad/team on the timescale we're on, unless your on FM of course which I'm sure you're very proficient at.
No I don't buy that, maybe one player (Rodrigues) but surely he couldn't have talked/tapped up players at the rate we're losing them.
I didn't say he may have tapped up everyone. But if he can do that you have to think what else he can do? "Oh Chambers you are too good to be back up at Saints join a bigger club" etc etc.
