The point, as you put it, was to protect the club's interests.

It doesn't matter what situation we were in, that was Speakman's job. He allowed a flimsy contract situation to endure. It was almost bound to come to this given what we now know, and yet we don't look prepared. Possibly even because he didn't want to deal with it decisively. Possibly because he didnt rate Neil.

But it is on him. He is the man in charge of all these things.

And we currently have ;

No first team manager.
No U23 manager.
No Academy manager.

He's not doing his job properly, and it doesn't matter what enyone thinks of Neil, that is still the case. Apart from recruitment, at which he clearly excells, chaos follows this bloke around.
Look we get that you dont like Speakman. The academy seems in a really good place at the minute, we are keeping a hold of our better youngsters and some of the better youngsters have been in and around the 1st team. The U18s have got off to a great start so far and we have so many exciting players coming through - Speakman is playing a part in that whether we have an academy manager or not. I would rather he waits for the right person to become available than just appointing anyone.

Yes we have no 1st team manager but thats because Neil left 24 hrs ago - I do not mind the club sticking to a budget for managers & players, or would you prefer that we just pay folk more than what we believe they are worth like we used too?

You can't say that it wasn't AN that has caused the chaos. You have no facts to prove what you are saying.

They seem to be in a hole but ordering more shovels.

I'm so glad we're not just throwing money around.

They have plenty of cash I think, or access to it. It is the ffp rules that have forced them to shed loads of high earners. That and common sense, and most of the players being overpaid ****e.

But I believe manager's and coach's salaries are outside of the ffp counting. Derby hiring Rooney as a player coach and so on.

I’m sure I’ve heard that before some where, you aren’t related to DH4 by any chance.

Neil has certainly caused it too. But other facts clearly speak for themselves. What we all now know made it highly likely indeed that Neil would leave.

Allowing the club to be in that position is not down to me, you, or anyone on here. It's down to the man making decisions.

Six months ago we had a farcical managerial chase. We shouldn't be doing it again so soon.

But if you think it's all the doing of a Machiavellian ex coach and no fault at all here, then fair enough.

No idea what you're talking about. You are clearly unable to see any fault at all by the club in any part of this.

Fair enough. And when the next upheaval occurs, keep thinking that.

What do you think of Neil and the way he left us?

Looking at the facts we know, if was both inevitable, and on his part done very badly indeed.

He will have made himself more money, but I doubt that his reputaion in the game will have been improved by his behaviour.

You don't know why AN left you only make assumptions. He may have insisted on a rolling contract so he could leave when he got the opportunity of a job nearer to his family. No one knows what actually happened six months ago, I could say that Roy Keane played the club along because he was annoyed by his treatment before, I have no proof but why should that matter.

I was making the assumption that Neil was leaving for a better financial deal.

Do you have a different theory?

Managers and coaches salaries are included in your football costs, and therefore count towards FFP. At least that is my understanding, could be wrong. Interestingly, I believe any compensation you pay for pinching coaches also counts, in the same way as a tfr fee does.

There was something weird about Rooney's salary at Derby. Some sponsor was involved in paying it, rather than a salary, or something like that I seem to remember.
