Well no one will ever get to know the numbers. Neill is obviously after himself and money. Fair enough, I was openly for hire in my forties, and despite him earning a great deal more, there are similarities. And managers are only a couple of bad jobs from disappearing from the upper leagues.

But no one comes out of this well IMO. The bullet should have been bitten in the summer. If Neil insisted on a rolling deal AND a get out quick clause, then clearly that should have been unacceptable to Speakman. In such a case, Neil leaving was pretty likely to say the least, as every club will have known his situation. Speakman should have demanded more commitment, and showed his own with a longer contract offer.

Looks like a mess to me that could have been avoided with clearer thinking at the top. Neil is a good manager at this level but that's all. There are others. If a proper arrangement could not have been come to in the summer, it should have been dealt with then.

And can you imagine how much **** Speakman would have got if AN ****ed off in the huff in the summer if he'd been presented with an ultimatum to show more loyalty to the club? Think about it man........

So what if he would have came in for stick?

It's his job to sort this stuff out. He left it hanging. His job is not to prevent himself from getting stick.

Movement behind the scenes or money being lumped on, most likely.

What I find amusing is that despite Neil accepting the terms of his contract on February, which included an increase upon Promotion which again he agreed to and presumably didn't ask for more at the time, some are still blaming the club for not paying him what he wanted

You're missing the point, the club were in a no-win situation whatever happened. Fortunately, the little sweaty orc has been outed for what he is and this time the club come out with their reputation intact.

Got £15 on him at 14/1 was obviously an error, everyone has lumped on. It’ll be suspended soon.

I'm so glad we're not just throwing money around.

He was rewarded with a better deal in the summer. That’s a fact. He was offered more by Stoke clearly. To be honest I don’t see this as being about money, I think this was about control over players. Maybe why he wouldn’t sign a longer deal. Our model isn’t for him and it’s a shame but he should have made his move at a time that was respectful to the club and the fans. He clearly isn’t a very respectful man.

Agree but in the greedy world of football a manager who has done well brings offers of more to agents and on we go to oblivion. Football will blow up at some point.

It’s really poor, I don’t think any of us expected Neil actually to be a bit of c#nt. At the end of the day it seems he’s screwed over a fellow manager as well as us.

The point, as you put it, was to protect the club's interests.

It doesn't matter what situation we were in, that was Speakman's job. He allowed a flimsy contract situation to endure. It was almost bound to come to this given what we now know, and yet we don't look prepared. Possibly even because he didn't want to deal with it decisively. Possibly because he didnt rate Neil.

But it is on him. He is the man in charge of all these things.

    And we currently have ;

    No first team manager.
    No U23 manager.
    No Academy manager.

He's not doing his job properly, and it doesn't matter what enyone thinks of Neil, that is still the case. Apart from recruitment, at which he clearly excells, chaos follows this bloke around.
