Speakman has all the power mate. That's KLD biggest mistake since he come here. Leaving him in charge of it all.
You see, I like that. An acceptance from an owner that he is not a football expert and therefore an appointment of a DoF to run all those operations with support but without interference. The key is that it has to be the right appointment and I appreciate that the jury is out on Speakman for many in that regard.

Yeah that's the point. A young billionaire is always going to be away from the club. Many owners are therefore someone needs to have final sign off and the power. I just personally think that Speakman shoudlnt be that man.

Aye. He’s done some really solid work in terms of the quality of some of the signings, but he’s out of his depth on the more ‘business’ stuff.

If he doesn’t get this one right then it needs looked at. I wouldn’t back him being removed though as some of the signings we didn’t see coming have been genuinely quality.

Yeah I would agree with that. Head of recruitment or even head of AOL I would take. But you're spot on with the business and more nuance stuff of football.

As long as we bring in someone who is as capable, if not more so, than Alex Neil, I don't see what the fuss is. As I said on the other thread, the club structure is meant to be that the Head Coach can come and go but the direction of the club doesn't deviate. If Neil doesn't want to be here, he's not the right man.
Easier said than done mind. A hard worker, a good tactician, an adopter of modern technology, a good in game manager, an excellent man manager and motivator, a good coach, a football style that lends itself to our crowd and a personality and delivery that fits with our area and fan base (no ‘buzzwords’ etc, not that I agree with that but some will seemingly be suspicious of anyone using technical jargon).

I don’t see many out there that meet all those criteria or add anything that Neil doesn’t possess. Maybe Robins?

Theres a role for him. Cirkin is a prime example. I don’t see us getting him without Speakman. He’s one of the best signings we have made in years, potentially top class. And he got him and Huggins to drop 2 levels.

The bloke has value and talent, but it’s absolutely on player recruitment, which is fine.

I’m absolutely with folk talking up Robins mind, yeah he turned us down before but totally different set of circumstances. He’s done a magnificent job at Coventry under challenging circumstances and we’d get to **** in their horrific fans gobs.

They play good football as well he would work well with the players we already have.

He’s right up there for me in terms of picks. I like the Luton guy as well, name escapes me. Failed at Stoke, against a challenging time but he’s rebuilt it and will have learned from it.

Again, good attacking football and he took them to the playoffs with literally half the quality of half the league.

Jones is it?

This is true. There will be someone out there though. And we have to expect that there might be some wrong turns along the way so they might not get it right straight away. Personally, I believe that the way club are doing things now is the right approach so I'd back them to get it right in the end.

With this meeting at BCH this morning, is it just an inquest or do the club still (naively) think they can get him to stay?
Don't want the club to get him to stay. I was really pleased when Niel was appointed because I rate him as a manager but if he was persuaded to stay, the first time we didn't perform well, the crowd would be straight on Niel's back, rightly or not.
On to the next manager, hopefully a young up and coming one. God knows who though, I don't.

Yep, Nathan Jones.

I agree wholeheartedly that KLD is great for the club but then I look at the two people he’s has appointed to run the club for him (football and non-football) and neither of them are right.

Anyway it’s mental it’s not been announced yet. Perhaps they’ve agreed on a time to coordinate messaging. 9am or 10am perhaps
