It was lovely out there today, no gale blowing like on Saturday. Just practising, I launched four balls at the 260 yard par four eighth, two of them landed on the green, I missed both eagle puts but had to settle for birdies. I wish all holes were like this one <laugh>

I remember the days when the ball went further sideways than forwards.

I’ve been dying for a golf weekend away for ****ing years but hardly any of my mates play and the ones that do play ****ing miles away from me. Can’t think of anything better than 3 or 4 days away in Portugal or Spain or summit with a round each day and beers/bbq back at the villa or hotel. Thinking about joining a club this year (finally) so naturally that will increase my social activity I would’ve thought and a weekend away might not be that far off :-)

Join up, you won't regret it. I'm five minutes from my local club which I joined last month for just under £600 per year. I've already played about ten rounds since joining <laugh> The wife went to work this morning, the daughter went to school and I had a round after finishing off work on the computer. What's not to like? <laugh>

For anyone new to the game, this is what I got told: drives for show, puts for dough. I've practised my putting to death, those long thirty footers I can now usually two putt. It makes all the difference from three putting.

Just out of interest, what’s your local club? Just curious as to whether I’ve played there or not or what it’s like?

I'm sure I told you that years ago.
Same as Darts, trebled for show, doubles for dough.

Wallsend. It's perfect for me, close to home and a decent course.
Played there once, can’t remember my score tho, would’ve been about 7 or 8 years ago now. Driving range is pretty good if I remember rightly as well.

I live right next to Ravensworth in Gateshead which is quite a nice course and around the £600 a year mark as well, played there a few times. Not a big fan of the blind holes like where you tee off up a big **** off hill and you’ve got nee idea where ya balls gone <laugh>

Ah God's Country! I used to caddie there, started when I was ten! Shagged a bird in one of the bunkers on the old 16th <laugh> Ps not when I was ten <laugh>

Aye, those were the days Heed, playing golf at Ravensworth, getting pissed in the Three Feathers and gannin to football matches with Quinny!

Some good times kidda. <ok>
Feathers shut for good now.
Quinny was a laugh, shame, I never got to see him before he passed.
Looking back, its hard to believe, no one got nicked through him.

Any decent clubs in and around south Tyneside or is it a case of heading north of the river? I’m a member of a club in york and tend to go round with my dad but fancy playing up here, when I can, on weekends
