My Dad & Grandfather, both lifelong R's, were born and grew up in London with residences on Bradiston Rd (W9), Fernhead Rd (W9) & Evelyn Ave (NW9) in that order. I see for the W9 addresses that West Kilburn and Kilburn Park tube station are shown on the map. Old funeral cards have mainly Paddington (Kensal Green Cemetery)and a few Marylebone references on them.
I remember as a youngster, living in Hampshire, perhaps around 6 yrs old (1959?), visiting my Grandparents (retired) in London and I recall their residence was a brick row house with a peach tree growing in a small back garden, that actually had tasty succulent fruit on it I recall. Parking was on the street. I think this might have been Evelyn Ave? I think on another trip Dad drove by his early boyhood homes in W9 and talked about how much those neighbourhoods had gone downhill over the years from how they were. I realise in this age it is not politically correct to say so - Dad was a product of his times & upbringing, but I remember him once saying things went downhill in those areas after the "wogs" moved in - probably just repeating something his own Dad said.
Anyway Dad often mentioned Kilburn, so I chose that as my moniker.
