Good fred this. It's more like, recommend me a new name. Mine is based on my visual resemblance of woody harrelson, although, looking in the mirror, I don't see it as much any more.

Hi 'sb_73' ........................Yes, I'm Aussie born and bred, I believe the family was traced back to coming from Cornwall.
Followed QPR since 1971, loved the British music of the sixties,
Father was a Lancaster rear gunner out of 630 Squadron in 1944, 34 ops.
I do a lot of research on RAF squadron / crew records from WW2, for people out of Great Briton looking for information on their fathers, grandfathers, etc ................ so I've always felt an affiliation with England as a whole.

The 'facial work' is coming along fine, thanks. Doc says it will take up to 12 months to heal / settle down but so far, all ok..... Went back to work the other day and it feels like a sack of potatoes hanging from the rafters.
The top stitches have gone, the but those underneath remain and will dissolve in time. I can still feel them every time I bend down, that's for sure but apart from that, I can't complain.
Cheers.

My grandfather was also a Lanc rear gunner (well, Stirlings first then Lancasters) for 90 Squadron I believe. Getting full service history for someone when you're not the next of kin is quite difficult sometimes. And as he never really spoke about it (and has been gone these past 17 years) It's a challenge sometimes, but I'd love to see his service log sometime.

What I also don't have are his medals - as he refused them at the end of the war over what he saw as the terribly poor treatment given by Bomber command to his family and his brother after his brother was killed in a raid. My grandfather stayed in the service for another 10 years or so after the war, but never really forgave the powers that be.

Mate, if you PM your grandfathers details, I'll check with a mate if he has 90 operational records. I have them for several other squadrons but not 90 sqn. Sounds like your grandfather and my father shared the same thoughts of the RAF. Mine rarely spoke of his time and was filthy on the 'powers that be' for demoting crews if they got injured / burnt and couldn't fly.

If you can give me as much detail as possible .................. each squadron record book contains about a thousand pages of records, so any approximate dates can save a lot of time searching.

I must admit that, whenever I see your username, I always think of the gay German officer in 'Allo 'Allo......... Lieutenant Hubert Gruber!! (Not at all sure why!!)

Leesten verr carefullee, I shell zay zis only vonce!

P.S. I'm as straight as the next man.... as long as the next man isn't Nigel Evans.

I now realise that it may have looked as though I was commenting on your sexuality. Can I make it clear (before swords turns up!!) that I wasn't at all and I wasn't making any kind of comment on gay people............. or straight............ or those that swing both ways. Everyone to their own.

Phew!!

I just loved 'Allo 'Allo and Gruber was one of my favourite characters ( "my liddle tank").

Try the Seinfeld shortcut Col, "Not that there's anything wrong with that".

Ooh, hark at her! Not like you to observe political correctness, Col. I thought it very funny.

Good to see you about, 'SingRs' .................. Always like a muso's, I'd consider myself as a muso except without any ability whatsoever, ha!
Put it this way, I play my music every Friday night ( The Beatles, Badfinger, The Who, The Yardbirds, Cream, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Erci Clapton ...........................but on records and CD's )

Thanks, Aussie. That music list sounds right up my street as a blues/rock guitarist and fan

Funny article 999. You have stated what most us are thinking.....weekends are ****e without a hoops game. No banter, no thrills or spills.

Newbury-Malaysia Hoop: well, pretty easy I guess. Last lived in Newbury in the UK, now live in Malaysia. Funny with the QPR connection.

My twitter name is Loftus_Toad , much more original. Should change my forum name to that really.

tried to follow you, but you haven't accepted yet :emoticon-0145-shake
