Surprised there isn't a thread about this lad yet... I think this could prove to be our best piece of transfer business so far this window.

Looks like a direct replacement for Catts but more mobile, a lot younger, and a hell of a lot cheaper.

A lot of our fans seem to be underwhelmed by this one whilst also praising Ethan Robson to the high Heavens which I find baffling.

This kid is a year younger than Ethan, and has three seasons worth of experience in League One (including as captain), as well as playing in Holland. By contrast, Robson has a few games in Scotland under his belt...

If the rumoured £100k fee is correct, this could prove to be an incredibly shrewd piece of business imo.

I think the number of players we already had in CM is putting people off from getting excited about another, but before he signed there weren't any standouts and this lad sounds like just what we need.

Him and Willis are the two I'm most looking forward to seeing. Ross has had his eye on Dobson for a while now apparently and thinks he's got a lot of potential.

I heard it was at least double that but who knows.
He has certainly got something about him - he looks incredibly like Raich Carter, if he can play like him then we are definitely onto a winner.
As Nacho said, we now have a lot of competition in midfield, probably too much - So who's going to leave?

The fact that we’ve got 312 CMs already and that none of us have seen anything more than snippets of the lad will be the reason why.

Will see what he’s like next week hopefully then form an opinion from there.

I’d suggest a fair few have seen Robson play and seen something they liked, hence they have those opinions.

I look forward to seeing the lad in action.

(There’s a 3 page long thread about this one at the bottom of the page by the way)

I agree with DMSF in that this lad will be a superb signing. I think he will end up captain of SAFC at some point.

Get the usual “SAFC are massive” etc in the interview but the great thing was the question about what type of player we can expect. Looked a totally unscripted answer and he had to think about the question and answered with loads of confidence big lad too. Walsall fans are complaining the club didn’t get £5m for him! Not sure exactly what planet they think a div 3 player is worth that!!

So what did people think?

He looks like he'll be useful to me, assured for his age and was spreading it about with both feet. Decent size to him and put himself about.

I thought he done ok nothing more. First half there wasn't a forward pass between him and Mcgeouch second half was a slight improvement. He does look like he will put himself about but for me it's a case of him or Mcgeouch not both especially at home.

If as JR says that Leadbitter will be captain it suggests to me that McGeoch may be relegated to the bench whilst Leads starts most games. Leads is worth 45 mins purely for his set pieces.

As daft as it sounds I think the higher level Mcgeouch plays at the better he would look. You don't get the time on the ball in this league to be effective in the role he plays. I think the same goes for Leadbitter unfortunately I do like him but he simply has no legs. Oxford had 3 players in he middle yesterday all of whom could run and put there foot in hence we kept playing backwards and hoping our defenders could play that killer ball. We had the same problem last season and our centre mids while technically better footballers just arent athletic or physical enough to dominate that area of the pitch. Id like to see Dobson and Power/Robson given a go in that formation.

I've said that before about McGeough. He wants too much time and space and isn't quick enough to create it in this league. At a higher level where the opposition won't just wipe you out for the hell of it he would be a more useful player. For me it would be Power, Dobson and O'Nien in a fluid midfield 3

Yeah totally forgot about ONien for a second there. We need energy in the middle and I would be happy to see that midfield.

Watched Embleton take 2 yesterday which were deadly. As good as Leadbitter imo. Sad thing is we didn’t have much which brought us dead ball situations. Ipswich will be tough next week!!

I'm not being negative. I think Dobson will be a big contributor this season, but he might not be an O9'er after all. That cutback from Hume in the 88th minute found Dobson all alone at the top and centre of the six yard box. He either flubbed it or let it go, not sure which, but that was the game winner, and that was prcisely the type of chance and situation I would expect O9 to convert.

hope Ross doesnt circle the wagons and park one i n front of goal, we should attack with our strongest side, and go with our new striker as he has show he could be really good lets face it he will need a good run before we see the best of him

What is it with your love in for O'Nein?
