But failure doesn't seem to be an option. Puts a different perception on 'shot stopper'

He actually said that we've made no approach for Boyd on loan, but he is a player he likes.

Messi has signed a 2 year contract extension up till June 2018.
Just playing hard to get, so think we'll settle for Boyd.

Steve Bruce speak for its all done and dusted. After the DJC fiasco it would be wrong for him to say much else.

From the second their chairman made those comments after the Florist deal fell through it sounded like he was referring to us. Id be well chuffed if we signed him, he's like a better Robbie Blake when he was in his prime.

Can't see us signing him until the end of Feb to cover the play-offs, thats if we sign him anyway.

Peterborough chairman has been complaining about Holloway ringing Boyd direct and says he's not spoken to Peterborough , seems he's now pissed off with Palace.
Shouldnt Holloway be reportedn for tapping up a player.

Boyd would be a great addition - could he play as a striker?

His first few seasons in the lower divisions he scored goals for fun and was referred to as the "White Pele". He would be ideal in the Koren role as he scores goals and can set up the strikers as a playmaker. If SB signs him, which I think he will, he will probably accept offers for Koren which have been made. He's 5 years younger than Koren and at 27 is in his prime. Darren F. has to move him as he has to cut the wage bill. Boyd is only on 10k a week but is their top wage earner. Also his eyes are fine!!

Ideal in the Koren role? He's a winger.

No way should we shift Koren for Boyd. That's just daft.

Do we really need him? We don't play with proper wingers and we have Koren and Aluko who play in the hole. I'd rather we spend the cash on a Striker.

Agreed, Boyd works harder and gets stuck in a lot more, but koren is More gifted with his feet and a more intelligent player. Nice to have depth though as other than koren we have no backup midfield maestro. If koren gets a nasty knock and put out for awhile it could hinder us.

Football is a squad game after all.

And I wouldn't really call him a winger, I think he's best suited to the free role like koren.

Correct...he's like Koren...as he has stated "he prefers to play "in the hole" because the position allows him to get more time on the ball. He has expressed his willingness to "play anywhere" to help the team, believing his versatility across the midfield and attacking areas to be one of his main strong-points. He has been labelled a creative and flamboyant midfielder, and described as "a player who will create goalscoring opportunities all game long".

At Peterboro he plays in a more central role just like Koren in the hole behind the strikers. He's 5 years younger than Koren and a lot more mileage left in him.
