to be fair he only had half a season with a disjoined chelsea squad.

managers normally need:

1. control
2. a season to make a mark. Klopp and Pep probably would have been fired if judging on there first seasons of underachieving

You won't last long with a basket case chairman like todd boehley

I would probably add Fergie to that list as well. I can't be bothered to check, but I'm sure Chief, Trebs or Diego will know, but didn't Alex Ferguson start really badly at United, then it became good and the rest is history. Just imagine if Manchester United had sacked Sir Alex as quick as we see other managers depart these days, Sucky would probably have been having an orgasm if you took AF's trophy haul away.

Saved by a Mark Robins goal in the cup allegedly.

Nice article in the Guardian today about Jose Mourinho...

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...na-mourinho-matures-as-roma-target-more-glory

When he was asked recently about the prospect of Roma reaching the Champions League with an extremely limited budget – something that could be secured in Hungary – Mourinho said that doing so would not just be history or a miracle; it would be Jesus Christ himself turning up in Rome and taking a stroll around the Vatican.

Tomorrow 8pm - Sevilla v Roma on BT1

Different times nowadays of course, so perhaps he wouldn't have lasted long enough to win our first league in 25 years but, we were proper ****e then.

The expectation was low, team full of ageing injury prone pissheads that Fergie had to sort through, get rid, and then rebuild.

Potter walked into a different situation.
Totally agree he wasn't given time, significantly I never said he'd failed, just that he didn't last long.

FWIW, it's fair bollocks that Fergie would have been sacked had we not won the cup, and that the crowd had turned.

There were a few dissenting voices, and they are usually loud enough to be heard. On the whole though, he was supported. By club and the support.

It was obvious which way we were headed.

tbf lampard was pretty successful at derby and he wasn't awful at chelsea first time (not awful, so not decent. Just average). Shocking at everton and even worse this time at chelsea. Shouldn't ever get another managerial job
I disagree
Derby had an expensive squad supplemented with loaned in Mount , Tomori and Wilson and even then he failed to get promotion .. That team was easily good enough to be promoted and i find it odd that so many think he did well in those circumstances .
PS that shot at promotion caused the financial chaos that has plagued Derby since .

The same expensive squad that finished 6th the season before and 9th the season before that.

As for the spending, he spent 14m and sold players for 14.5m. You pool love a good net spend review

When did anyone ever count loan players towards money signings :P.

I would say he finished at worst par for the course and at best a pretty good season (lost in playoff finals right?).

That they have a financial issue wasn't down to frank. I'm not even sure how the squad were "massively overbudget" when he left considering 3 loanees and their wages got removed after he left.

I don't think he was successful at Derby. He never pushed them on or took them any higher than the previous season.

Good point about his first stint at Chelsea. I think he was better than average, tbf. He came in under a transfer embargo and he was responsible for bringing through all the youth that season. It's all been downhill for him since then though.

Lampard is a ****ing **** **** promoted way above his ability because he was a good albeit grossly overrated player.

Scraped playoffs with a great squad at Derby and ****ed it anyway.

Mediocre at best in his first spell at Chelsea.

Abysmal at Everton. Worse than abysmal in his second spell at Chelsea.

If he wants to manage he should beg for a job at Barrow or somewhere and prove himself because he’s been given great opportunities and been a useless **** in all of them. ****. Chelsea ****. ****.

One of them names that’s been hanging about in English football circles for decades so the nepotism has seen him get chances in management he didn’t deserve.

bare ****…just like Gerrard…both English media darlings…fast tracked to the top above legitimate managers…bollocks…Unai Emery…a proper coach, hugely undervalued just showed Gerrard up for the fraud he is.

Gerrard did fairly well in Scotland but Helen Keller could finish second with Rangers in that league.

I get why these guys don’t want to cut their teeth in the lower leagues and it’s not their fault they’re offered jobs but don’t know why clubs take a punt on them.

Almiron just had his best season for us in a team that was scoring plenty of goals. Barnes scored more than he did, in a team playing like trash.

Yes Miggy tracks back a lot and adds to the team in other ways but I don't watch a lot of Barnes and he may do too. There are players I'd prefer but if our scouts think he's an improvement then the numbers do just about back that up - and in the Premiership no less.
Barnes has looked disinterested this season. Good when on the ball but not working hard enough off it. Think that has been the collective problem with Leicester this year - too many players look disinterested. Seems like something was really wrong behind the scenes.

Will be interesting to see what King Power decide to do. They are still struggling financially and I don’t think the owner is as interested as his dead dad.
