One of the worst players I've ever seen at Spurs. The only LB in my lifetime that I can remember significantly worse than him was Gilberto.

Been injured for about 4 months though.

Fulham bent us over dry when they got us to pay £25m for him.

We've got a young lad arriving from Serie A in the summer though, looks absolute mustard so hopefully that spells the end of Sessegnon.

Trust Munse to rate the guy, lol. Think he's replacing Diaz as it sounds like Real ain't renewing his deal.

Benzema could be off as well, got a $400m offer apparently from Saudi. Amazing news for us that, because if they don't replace him with Mbappe they're likely taking Kane, they've had a thing for our best players in the past.

Was that down to him or the setup there though? De Zerbi took over and took them up a level.

Potter set it up for De Zerbi to do that, though. They were improving every season under Potter and he had them going well before he left for Chelsea. (13 points from 18) The previous season he'd bettered their best ever season by 10 points and won at places like Anfield.

He proved over three seasons hes good enough for the premier league and if its down to the set-up then just chuck any old manager in and they'll keep improving?

Ok, with Brighton he did, fair enough.

He didn't last long at a top Premier League with higher expectations though, which was kind of my point.

Carrick has been suggested for Spurs, for instance.

Potter paid his dues in foreign leagues and then the Championship and finally grafted out a very good job at Brighton. He jumped for the wrong job with Chelsea but I guess we weren't to know quite how mental Boehly was going to go in the signings and running of the club. I see no reason why Potter couldn't produce the kind of results Howe has for us or De Zerbi has for Brighton. As it is he's now tainted and needs to be very careful over what his next job is. I still rate him as a manger though, far more than the likes of Gerrard or Lampard.

Tbh, I think most managers would have struggled at Chelsea last season. He had players forced on him that he didn't want and didn't suit his preferred style of play. Potter deserves another go at the premier league. Middlesboroughs form went to **** at the end of last season and they bottled the play offs. Big question marks over Carrick for me.

Yeah Carrick would be mental to leave at the moment, especially for Tottenham as they are at the moment - far too risky. Would be different if a club like Brentford/Fulham/Wolves were looking (due to managers leaving or being poached) but even then he's still better off in the Championship for a year or two longer you'd think.

Potter did a good job at Brighton but I don’t think it helped him that De Zerbi has taken them up a level while Potter failed at Chelsea (not all his fault) spectacularly

13 points from 18 when Potter left. There's every chance they'd have finished in a similar position had Potter stayed in charge.

Potter done a madness at Ostersunds. Took them from the equivalent of like league two to the Prem and then won the league cup. Started the Brighton revolution but then took a Chelsea job destined to fail with that mad yank playing real life football manager. He'll walk into a number of jobs and have plenty of suitors, wouldn't even be surprised if we make contact with him... the poor ****.

Lampard's a woeful manager, failed everywhere he's been. Gerrard done well in the pub league, Emery's since shown the gap in quality at big boy level though.

Yeah, Gerrard and Lampard are failures.

No club in the top two divisions should touch them with a barge pole.

to be fair he only had half a season with a disjoined chelsea squad.

    managers normally need:

    1. control
    2. a season to make a mark. Klopp and Pep probably would have been fired if judging on there first seasons of underachieving

You won't last long with a basket case chairman like todd boehley

tbf lampard was pretty successful at derby and he wasn't awful at chelsea first time (not awful, so not decent. Just average). Shocking at everton and even worse this time at chelsea. Shouldn't ever get another managerial job
