Watching motd, and I don't care if you freeze it at a certain frame and say it's correct, that var disallowing of Spuds goal is an utter joke.

It comes down to them going against what they even advertised it as. It’s supposed to be for ‘clear and obvious’ errors. If something takes 3 minutes to look at and decide it wasn’t clear and obvious imo. Ours was ruled out quickly as it was obvious so fair enough

Yep, re refereeing the game in some aspects and just backing up the ref in others.
It's essentially an expensive and time consuming lino.
I’d say it’s those who have implemented it and run it within football that are the problem not the technology itself. It works in other sports and it’s good to have something in place to catch real howler decisions before it’s too late but it’s a mess atm

Do you think the amount of time it took is acceptable and something you're happy to see going forward?
The offside rule does probably need changing now with VAR, though that might end up making it more subjective?
My point is we were told it was coming to make sure blatant errors were overturned and see penalties that the ref missed, not to spend 3 minutes checking if someone's armpit is a millimetre offside.
Yeah I'm against it completely so we'll never agree on that aspect but I'm definitely with you that it could be implemented better.
A 20-30 second time limit would be a start imo.
I’m just watching MOTD atm and your game. How long did the Josh King one take there and then? That was a correct example but a lot of things (more to do with the rule changes than VAR) seem to benefit defenders not strikers.
Stuff like the goal line technology is simple and works with no delay. I think you could have someone watching the game and just flag in seconds to the refs ear when a clear mistake has happened and that’d be enough.

They don’t even seem to be using it properly. That’s a blatant penalty to Burnley, and no VAR?.
I asked because on the MOTD commentary it said quick, simple, correct so wondered how quick! Definitely seems to be too many poor decisions despite it and the delays
Firstly, I thought the decision yesterday was harsh on Spurs ... but it was likely technically correct under the current rules... and rules is rules ... no point bleating about them other than to campaign for changing daft ones ... like the current offside rule.
If you watch the footage again you will see Chilwell appeals for offside as soon as the pass is made and berates the linesman for not raising his flag once the ball is in the net ... now Chilwell arguably has the best view of anyone and is playing to the rule (as it currently stands) ... VAR can only anticipate when the ball is struck by the passing player without a sensor on the ball so the freeze frame is flawed in any case ... if actual contact is a fraction later, then more of Son is 'offside' ...
So back to the real problem ... the offside rule ... make the criteria clear daylight between torso, with benefit of doubt in favour of the attacker, and the problem goes away ... or becomes incredibly rare ... and the review takes seconds
