Firstly, I thought the decision yesterday was harsh on Spurs ... but it was was
likely technically correct under the current rules... and rules is rules ... no point bleating about them other than to campaign for changing daft ones ... like the current offside rule.
If you watch the footage again you will see Chilwell appeals for offside as soon as the pass is made and berates the linesman for not raising his flag once the ball is in the net ... now Chilwell arguably has the best view of anyone and is playing to the rule ... VAR can only anticipate when the ball is struck by the passing player without a sensor on the ball so the freeze frame is flawed in any case ... if actual contact is a fraction later, then more of Son is offside ...
So back to the real problem ... the offside rule ... make the criteria clear daylight between torso, with benefit of doubt in favour of the attacker, and the problem goes away ... or becomes incredibly rare ... and the review takes seconds
