Depends on your view though as anything longer than 15-20 seconds is far too long for me and makes me want to leave.

I'd guess around 45 seconds to a minute but happy to be corrected. Had a couple other reviews that took longer though.

Only likely? Shouldn't it be definite to overturn? ;)

Loving the logic of the defender appealed so he was definitely off <laugh><laugh>

It was 100% technically correct on the freeze frame shown, under the current rule as it is written ... but as I pointed out... was that freeze taken at the precise moment the ball is struck by the passer?

The rule is causing the complications .. not VAR ...

... but on the bright side ... the most tuneless bunch of fans on the planet (what they have done to 'When the Saints go marching in' should carry a custodial sentence) are now much less likely to sing 'VAR m'lord' <laugh>

I've already said I agree about the offside rule, but the wider issue is it's being used at a ridiculous level in some aspects while being non existent in others.

When you were arguing for it last year, did you really envision having over 50 matches without a referee's decision bring overturned, and it taking two minutes plus to assess offsides to the mm?

We're never going to agree on the principle of it, but I don't see how anyone can say the implementation of it is going well and that it's exactly what people were sold.

Personally I think you could apply the clear and obvious to offside which essentially means enforcing a clear daylight rule without a law change.

If you can see it's clearly offside from the first replay then give it, if not then leave it. You don't need all the gimmicks and lines across the pitch etc. it should come down to the big errors where a clear advantage has been achieved by the attacker.

Let's be honest if anyone is clearly offside then you only need one replay and you can see it straight away. If it's tight enough that you need over two minutes to look at different angles and draw lines on the pitch, then just leave it alone.

No ... and the time taken needs addressing ... but simplistically it is a visual aid ... and the best one available for correct decision making ... the way it is being used is the problem ... not the technology itself

@Big Ern has washed every sock he owns today, just in case De Gea punts one straight out of play.

I wonder what VAR decisions will be discussed later today.

VAR - ending controversies since 2019.

At least we're discussing the football instead of refs decisions now <whistle>

... if you walk off they win ... and puts ideas in other moron's heads as a 'tactic' when losing ...

The way to beat it is to identify the scrotes, fine them heavily, give them a lengthy ban and make them attend 'awareness' sessions ...

Good to see both managers agreeing to the walk off if it came to it. Appears there was a 10 minute delay to the game due to it. Reading the reports it looks as though the racism was aimed at Effiong, who used to play for Woking. He might be better remembered for his FA Cup goals against Bury (win) then their loss against Peterborough.

The fans need to self police it, it’s not difficult at that level as the crowds are small.

You don’t get any of that **** behind the goal at Woking and a lot of them are savages!

The other point about walking off is that you are then punishing 99.999% of the watching fans for the actions of a few twats ...

I can certainly see that point, but in large crowds it also requires a deal of self policing by other fans imo, and if people know that the teams might walk off then they might be more inclined to do so.

Hartlepool fans. It's great that they're appalled but they need to be pointing at the racists so the stewards and the club can deal with them.

"We have a real toxic element in our fan base albeit small, the racism, the trying to get at the ref during the game, throwing punches at Dover players going down the tunnel, what’s makes it worse is our own fans trying to defend these actions. I’m utterly ashamed to follow Pools tonight, the result turned out to be irrelevant."

"Spot on. My last game before Saudi and I leave with that. I knew we'd get beat but what unfolded was the most disgraceful day I've seen at the Vic in 24 years of going.

The ref was the worst I've ever seen granted but to chase him around the square? The racism. let's not kid ourselves, we've all heard it before and I stand by that it's got worse at Pools since Brexit.

There are a number of utter rarfs who follow us at home and they need digging out before the town and club get dragged into the gutter further.

We'll get a **** off fine and it'll be deserved. I also hope Gus Mafuta still fancies turning out for us but i'll understand if he doesn't. It's a minority yes but a minority is too much. So what if the bloke is being a dickhead celebrating like a poncy charver, he might be black, why does it matter? Have a go at him being a grade A cock not because he's black. my god. Sickens me. The whole day."
