Pundits are mostly ex-professional players so they probably do know the laws but hey **** them you seem to know it all, I'm with you Oracle. :bandit:
They do change from time to time and the sentence relevant to this is quite new. It says the exact opposite of what the pundits claimed.

The Law says:

If a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence
What does the law say about encroaching into the area from the defending side when a penalty is being taking out of interest?

It’s against the laws, but show me a penalty where it doesn’t occur.
I agree, still annoys me as it’s the sort of thing we do get pulled up for but every time we miss one (including at yours a couple of weeks back) it’s invariably an encroaching defender who prevents the rebound. I guess the message is just stick the ****er away first time of asking. Just making the point that if you argue by the laws your penalty should stand, Arsenal should have had theirs retaken that’s all

Normally the encroachment has no effect.

However, in the NLD yesterday Vertonghen encroached and then due solely to that, he was the one who got managed to get back onto the line to block the effort that came after the save.

Arsenal’s penalty shouldn’t have been awarded though as there was no foul.

I thought both pens were debatable, but the Arsenal pen should have 100% been retaken.

Yeah we had one with cardiff at the end of December where Bamba got back and blocked the rebound from Maddison off the line after being yards inside the box when the kick was taken
