If you were to assume the north(west) was like Coronation Street in real life you would have a case to give it a wide berth, if you were to assume all footballers socialise in the city they ply their trade you'd be way off the mark.
Man Utd/City players in the main choose Cheshire to live and the players at LFC/EFC tend to choose in general Birkdale/Ainsdale or the Wirral, so the "goldfish bowl" situation rarely happens due the exclusivity of the area were it's no big deal to see a footballer in a local eaterie or pub, golf course or even supermarket.
London must be sound for the top players on big dosh but I kinda doubt most of them spend most nights in the city.
