Not really a relevant comparison at all as most of yours aren’t but Butt won six titles and a European Cup. Obviously he wasn’t a better player than Best but as said, it’s not a relevant analogy.

We’re 5/2 to win it so we obviously do have a chance by the way. Not odds I’ll be taking but even if that’s under-priced we very clearly do have a shot.

Everyone of my generation and yours, also remembers that great Netherlands side of 1974. And how they lost to West Germany in the final. England have also had their share of glorious failure, and I can confirm that it's hugely over rated. In fact, it's ****.

I'm around a decade into my anti Southgate crusade though mate, so I have to keep going no matter what.
If England win I will say they would have won the last 4 competitions without him.. something along those lines.
