I'd love to know where it started from, such an odd saying!

When we first come up here, and after years of no one talking to each other on the trains I used to travel to work on, the concept of strangers engaging in conversation was mind blowing and everyone called me "duck" !!

We still have the cob/roll debate in the office though, interspersed between endless talk of the football and how to pronounce words like gRass etc... <laugh>
Generally East Midlands I would say. Certainly used a lot in Loughborough when I lived near there. To be used when someone from Manchester would say "chuck" probably, although more flexible because you can add "mi" (me) in there:

Hello chuck

Hello mi duck

Obviously the "u" is to be pronounced not as in "up" but maybe a bit more like double o (sort of). You can't really spell in accents!

One of the worst defenders in the league and a striker that doesn’t score goals. West Ham’s terrible players putting in performances. Hopefully De Zerbi can get our decent players doing the same!

Great contribution to the board.
Thanks. Seems like your brain capacity is on the decline, though.

May one suggest that this is a common cause and effect when spending so much time in Scotland.

10 years on, shades of Leicester 2016 starting to appear. Media already been pushing the narrative they want but teams with nothing to play for now rolling over for our rivals. Not sure how it can, but I expect the refereeing of our games compared to our rivals game get skewed even more towards ensuring we’re relegated.

Great chance for the players to stick it to them, this is perfect fuel for the fire to come out swinging tomorrow.
