I am normally an extremely optimistic person in life but having sat through a season like the one gone, I do not have any faith in us starting the next season in the Premier League. None at all.

I would be so happy to be proved wrong, and by all means people can come back at me later to take the piss if we do achieve it.

Just can't see it happening. Sorry.

I’m also an optimist, an eternal one until proven otherwise. I simply cannot believe spurs will be relegated and will not accept it until it’s inevitable.

Bottoms up!

PS - it’s not looking good though!

I've experienced relegation twice, and both times I just knew. The times we survived I wasn't worried. It's when you start to see all the other clubs in the mix getting unlikely results, and you see the games running out. It's around that time you sort of figure it out.

Once you know, you know, and then it happens.

As of March 26, 2026, Sunderland holds a home record of 7 wins, 5 draws, and 3 losses (W7 D5 L3) in the 2025–26 Premier League season.
They have earned 26 points from 15 home matches at the Stadium of Light, currently ranking them 9th in the league's home form table.

Goals for: 22
Goals against: 14

Playing Sunderland away is probably the worst fixture for a bunch of lightweight mentalities.

They just beat Newcastle away in their derby and are a tough nut to crack on any day because the one thing they have is fight

They will piss on our weak mentalities

They also drink the blood of their dead in Sunderland.

Seen it once back in the 70's and a couple of near misses afterwards. You're right, you just know and unfortunately I have that feeling at the moment.

Oh well someone has just bought some sausage cobs into the office so life is not that bad.... <laugh>

Rejoice, guys!! It looks like Sunderland may have offered us an escape ramp...
Following on from how well this all went for Ipswich, their CEO wants to invite the Frog-Faced Cnut to their next home game.

If there is anything more likely to cause internal strife over the next two weeks, I'd be very surprised!

Let's face it...we need every help we can get!

Now I do draw the line at being referred to as "duck" ... <laugh>

An extremely odd Nottingham expression I have to say...
I have to tell you that my stepfather was from Nottingham.
He worked for the old Inland Revenue and was transferred to Manchester in the ‘80s where his office overlooked Old Trafford cricket ground. He had been a very good amateur cricketer (Notts 2nd XI standard) so he was in his element - and I don’t think he did much work there given the distractions. Lancs were pretty decent then with Atherton, Crawley, Fairbrother etc.

He loved living in our area in the Pennine hills to the east of Manchester/Oldham with our great cricket and bowling leagues. We had to look after him in his final years (he died in 2024). When asked what he wanted to eat, he often requested something on one of those nice “cobs”, so that term resonates with me.
He was friends with Peter Taylor and knew Cloughie. He followed Forest around when they were the best.
I didn’t expect to find the word “cob” referred to here. But glad to join the commentary <cheers>

South Derbyshire as well though years ago as well as
"ey up me duck" you would also sometimes hear "ey up me love" and that was between men
mind you in some ares you needed to be local to understand the local dialect <laugh>

I'd love to know where it started from, such an odd saying!

When we first come up here, and after years of no one talking to each other on the trains I used to travel to work on, the concept of strangers engaging in conversation was mind blowing and everyone called me "duck" !!

We still have the cob/roll debate in the office though, interspersed between endless talk of the football and how to pronounce words like gRass etc... <laugh>

If I were to guess it's a mutation of how they used to call people chicken, or chick for short

Very early days in the RdZ tenure, but (training injuries or bad pizzas notwithstanding) from the training vids it appears like he is looking to build around a MF of Bergvall, Gray and Palhinha. And if he plays 3ATB I can also see Danso starting next weekend.
In a mood of generally resigned indifference, it will be interesting to see how he sets up - and who else he 'trusts'. Having Kudus available at least is a big plus even as a bench option after so long out.
