It isn't about the school its the pupil that matters! My daughter went to hessle and got A's then went to university! People make a big deal of something that isn't a big deal! In all walks of life from Stone Age to Now you'll have the haves & the haven'ts! Why are the royals held in such high regard by MOST of the population? People from lower, middle & higher class stand together clapping them at state ceremonies! The arguments of class only crops up during elections! Work hard and you'll get your rewards! [HASHTAG]#FACT[/HASHTAG]

And don't bamboozle your brain with drugs and booze.

And don't get a criminal record for hanging round a shop mugging old ladies and kids.

The vast majority of people suffering in poverty deserve to. They are a blight on our nation.

My son struggles with maths.

He is in a maths class of 7 at school as he needs the extra help. He's not thick or owt but maths is hard for him.

You wouldn't get that in a state school.

From looking like getting an E he's predicted a strong B or an A now.

He deserves to struggle just like every other child.

Unless you can afford to pay £50k per year for his luxury. In which case you're evil and shouldn't have children you can afford to look after by yourself without state help.

He should be taken off you.

My nephew struggles with maths also, his dad pays £30 for a lesson at home! A lot cheaper then you pay I can imagine & he's come on really well! Im not against private education! I just don't think labour have to drag it up every election! Same for NHS is wasnt that great when Blair and brown had finished with their stint!

As you seem to have completely missed the point, it was Labour who got the NHS £300b in debt with private finance initiatives.

Your second comment is simply nonsense, health care spending per capita by country...

Yes they did, but that debt could have been cleared. Our public services are being decimated for a reason.

I think it's calculated on the strength of our economy.

My lad had a private tutor for a while, who was very good, but it wasn't enough.

I have no doubts that a lot of his mates at state school will come out with far better grades than my lad because they're academically brighter.

I just think if he'd have stayed where he was he'd have done pretty poorly. As parents we had the option of working longer hours and making personal sacrifices to put him in private eduction. Whilst I appreciate not everyone is in that position I hardly think it can be called a luxury.

My other half puts in over 60 hours a week, how very luxurious.

Like I said earlier I could have bought a flash motor and gone on holidays to Aruba instead but , in my opinion, that would have been failing my son.

This post is probably not relevant to your comments mate so please don't take offence.

I was taken out of state school by my parents and sent to a private school at 12, because of bullying. What I found very quickly was that things I had struggled with at the state school very quickly clicked and became easier to understand at the private school. This was basically that the quality of teaching was better, and class sizes where half what they were at the state school.

It's just a choice parents can make

It's no guarantee that private school yields better grades just like state school doesn't mean poor grades

There's nothing wrong with parents who send kids to either school, w

While i don't believe the quality of teaching is lacking in state schools now, it's the smaller, more support time with teachers that private schools offer that is much better

Wow - what's in it for them if the Maybot and Tories are re-elected?

I can't see anyone getting more investment in Hull schools than we've had over the last 10 years. An incredible £400M from BSF Building Schools for the Future.

You can dress it up as "private school" but it was borstal you big bully.

On a serious note was there no bullying at the private school? My Mrs did a stint working at a nearby private school & didn't like it too much. Although she did say the kids spent a lot of time outside.

I did play football at Everthorpe Borstal once, which was an education in it self.

I'm sure there is bullying at private schools as well, but the one I went to, I had the best time at school and still keep in touch with some old class mates.

It's strange ain't it.
I wasn't very good at maths at school but I find it a lot easier now.

Yeah I played there a few times and quite liked the challenge.
You did get some abuse going in and out though.
