I’d quickly remove that racist post you’ve put up on the other thread before making a comment like that <laugh>

I will ignore the comment regarding Starmer, if you don't mind.
Had l voted Tory in the last election, l would certainly want them removed at this election.
What your failing to see from posters like me, is a real lack of good alternatives.
Both main parties finances do not add up according to the IFS.
We are constantly being told this is broken, that is broken, maybe it politics and government that are broken.

I do believe that it is not good for the country to have any single party with such an overwhelming majority that they are not sufficiently challenged by the opposition and brought to account. It has been evident in recent years that this complete lack of accountability is disastrous for UK plc.

It is evidently ingrained in the present iteration of the Tory party and it would be best for all concerned if they were obliterated at the forthcoming polls.

Labour will win but I hope that some of the smaller parties step in to the void that the Tories will leave so that they can form an effective opposition. The present Labour stance of saying nothing, having no real policies and relying on the Tories to continue to make themselves unelectable, whilst it will be ultimately successful, does not make me feel that greater days are just around the corner.

I find the whole thing so extraordinarily depressing.

I liked his doubling down and shifting the blame tactic putting the onus back on to me for seeing it that way.

A majority is a majority. Whether it's 10 seats or 100 seats it means a Govt will get it's bills through Parliament unless there is a major revolt within their party.

True - but I wonder if the Tories had only had a smaller majority whether their Whips would have worked harder to keep everybody in line and so there would have been less of the never-ending scandals we have seen in recent years.

Also a smaller majority means that by-elections results become really meaningful and can't just be ignored because they realistically mean nothing in the overall scheme of things.

I totally agree with this sentiment from yourself and FellTop amongst others.

To go a level deeper though, maybe the real problem is the public.

Sunak has been trying to scare voters against Labour by telling them that taxes will be put up whilst most parties are suggesting they'll cut taxes.

Does anyone actually think that any party gets voted in who steps forward and says "we're going to tax you more to try and get spending under control. We might fix one or two things, but we can't afford the rest"?

Not a chance, the public would annihilate them because on the whole we're selfish and want instant gratification.

To move forward from where we are, l belive it is inevitable that taxes must rise to enable us to move on.
Not sure how they raise taxes, but the burden has to be shared by all, in one way or another.

If that was remotely true the country would have gone bankrupt years ago.
