A great deal of chatter this afternoon at the meeting Mme went to about the election. Strangely one lady had received her voting papers but her husband had not. One good friend actually received hers for the first time in 12 years. As you might guess Johnson will not get any votes from out here, but they are certainly very well informed on tactical voting.

The reason why the private media trash Corbyn:

And of course our economy is at its worst point in years... under the Tory party watch..... not Labour

if you believe the right-wing smears that Jeremy Corbyn is some kind of radical extreme-left communist, then you're going to be amazed when you hear about Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Belgium, New Zealand ...

Maybe you've just been systematically lied to by the corporate media?

The story was first covered by the Yorkshire Evening Post where I first spotted it. All of the details of the delays etc were there. I don't know if the national press gave those details, but they do tend to use news items in a different way to the local newspapers. Many journalists are now employed to work for a whole range of papers in different places as hard copy papers fight to survive. It is their stories that often appear nationally
without giving any credits.
YEP... Is a conservative paper with small and big C.. No doubt this was a news item with no political angle.. In fact I am very surprised they broke it...

Why does Johnson keep saying that there will be 50,000 more nurses when everyone knows it is a lie? It just doesn't make sense.
ofh, you are on a thread with the sort of dipstick (I believe SH stands for Selective Hearing) that believes anything they are told. Any ‘fact’ they can be fed, even if they know it to be a lie, is enough to excuse themselves from their selfish voting choices.

Corbyn has said Ashworth's scathing attack on him was 'just banter'.

Does he still believe in father Christmas or is he just putting on a brave face for the last 48 hours of his job?

For the 35 years that I lived in Northamptonshire I had a Tory MP, and knew them all. Arthur Jones was the first, very much from the old school of public service, who had had two spells as Mayor of Bedford before he became an MP. He didn't have great ambition to progress to be a minister in government, rather spending time to represent the people who had elected him, and taking up causes such as making sure there was a decent supply of council housing for the children of the locals to start married life in.

The next when Arthur retired was Reg Prentice. He had held office in the governments of Harold Wilson and James Callaghan, but switched parties when the left wing in Newham deselected him. That was real left wing politics at work nothing like the social democrat policies being proposed by the current Labour Party. He turned out to be very popular among the crusty old Tories who had wondered what Lady Hesketh had done to bring a Labour man along to represent them. He brought his social conscience along with him and was taken into the Tory government by Margaret Thatcher. Despite his duties in government he was always ready to have a chat and listened to your concerns about how Thatcher was becoming out of touch with ordinary people.

The last MP was Tim Boswell a local farmer. He was once again a proper one nation Tory who would turn up on a Saturday morning to listen to concerns that the local rubbish tip was to be sold off, and the company was only interested in taking things that they could resell. He was in the government of John Major, yet still found time to listen to one and all from the area. When he retired he was given the title of The Lord Boswell of Aynho and has chaired the Lords committee on leaving the EU. Long before any current minister had even thought about the problems that Northern Ireland would bring, his committee had spent several days there and written a report.

Everyone of them, although slightly different received my vote. They were good public servants, likeable, and above all honest. They would tell you the problems about how long it might take to get something changed, but promised to try and did their best to keep to that promise.

Everyone of them were internationalist in their outlook, very much in favour of a close cooperation with countries across the Channel. Arthur had lived through WWII and never wanted to see such a thing happen again. They all understood that a close economic relationship would mean a peaceful continent.

Today my MP is nothing like any of them. A career politician who is never seen unless there is a camera around, and doesn't reply to letters or e-mails let alone get to meet the people who have voted for her. She is far too right wing for my liking, but will get re-elected because people just don't want to think about how little she does. When the County Council collapsed she had nothing to say on the matter. I cannot bring myself to support this government anymore, they have moved too far away from what I want a MP and government to do.

Your MP is an extremely talented parliamentarian having risen to Leader of the House of Commons amongst her list of ministerial duties. She is defending a vast majority of over 22,000 so is very unlikely to miss your support or vote. Her unwavering support for honouring the referendum result has been constant and effective. You are lucky to have such an excellent representative for your previous constituency. She is bound to play an important role in the next Conservative government.

You clearly have never met her SH. She is one of the most loathsome people I have ever had the misfortune to meet. As I said she will get elected, but she would if she was a pig wearing a blue rosette. It may have escaped your notice that I was talking about MPs doing their job over a whole range of issues. Just because she fits your desire on one issue doesn't make her a good MP. I specifically mentioned honesty in my previous MPs, something that I could admire and give my vote to. The last thing I see in the current Tory party is honesty. By the way it is still my constituency.

Nice to know your constituency will always be Conservative. If you paid more attention to results in your constituency you would realise your excellent MP increases her percentage of the vote at each election. She is obviously well liked and respected locally as well as an effective minister.

By the way, when you met her I hope you displayed better manners than you did last night.

I am always polite to people that I meet. The fact that what I was saying last night was beyond your understanding is hardly my fault. Others knew exactly what my message was, so I am sorry that you couldn't grasp it.

Judging by the final You Gov poll tonight another hung parliament is still a strong possibility. The same surge in support for Corbyn in the final days is very similar to 2017. Today we watched Johnson clearly rattled that he wouldn't get his majority, and that would be the end of Brexit. Lovely to see that Raab with his 22,000 majority is in danger of losing.

Your comments were in poor taste as mentioned by others. Not worthy of a response.

I would certainly rather meet Andrea Leadsom than you, no wonder she prefers not to enter into any dialog with you.

Get your facts right SH. One person made comment and I will not say what I know about him. Stop trying to make out that you are some sort of victim.

This forecast predicts the Tories with the best result since 1987 and Labour with the worst results since 1983.
