I'll guess that we'll still want to leave.

Not that it matters. A democratic vote happened, so we need to make sure that we leave the European Union, so democracy can prevail.
They’re dead, Saffy. The recognising of zombies’ votes is surely not in the national interest? ;)
A second vote varies, but centres around 58% remain, 42% leave, at the moment. Democracy is rule of the people by the people. The people want to remain. The votes of youngsters who have a stake in the future of this country, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of racists, now dead, who voted to leave, have changed the will of the people. If we only go by bygone censuses then we don’t need a general election?

If Labour win this GE can we suspend them actually leading the country for 3 and a half years and then decide if the country still wants a Labour government after that time?

It has taken too long, yes. Couldn’t agree more. Although I think the process of the referendum was as efficient as if it had been run by the FA, I would accept leave if that’s what the country wants. But it doesn’t.

The country will decide to keep Boris, which I think is laughable, were it funny. Trump and Johnson say everything about Western ‘democracy’. I look forward to being invaded by Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan because they want to install real democracy here.

It doesn't matter who wins the election, during the course of the next three and a half years events will change what is the sensible thing for a government to do. What they might promise now could be totally ridiculous to carry out despite saying that they will do it now. This democracy argument is a total con designed by politicians to try and keep themselves in a job.

My son in law voted to leave the EU, but has just voted for a remain party. He reasoned that he couldn't bring himself to support either of the two main parties in part because of the two leaders, but mainly because this is not a single issue, but something that will affect the population in every way for the next five years. Are we to say that he shouldn't be allowed to make that decision? On Brexit he has no regrets on changing his mind as he has found out more about what it means. He is not taken in by slogans, but has seen the figures on the NHS, the police numbers, the environment, and just doesn't believe what is being pumped out. MPs are no different to my son in law and need to look at the evidence. You cannot hold them to vote for something that they can see is bad and wrong for the country.
Evidence? Who needs that? Base votes on fears brought to our attention by responsible politicians.

It is the remainers that are saying to hell with democracy but not accepting the referendum.

Having 3 General Elections so the Tories get an excuse to ram through their no deal Brexit that no one voted for = Democracy

Having a confirmatiory referendum on on the terms of leaving = antidemocratic, even though Farage and Cummings advocated the same thing before the referendum.

Leavers are cowardly ****bags <ok>

Democracy is abiding by the result of the referendum, any deviation is therefore undemocratic.

The Tories have raised record amounts this election, the substantial lead in the polls indicate the funds are working well. Faced with the prospect of a marxist Labour government it is understandably easy to see why so many contribute to such a good cause.

More misinformation

What the labour party seeks to return to is what existed under successive Tory Govts until recently:

Schools nurses fee education libraries youth centres GPs childeren's centres etc etc etc

No question of Marxism then was there

So much smear and misinformation comes out of your mouth.... just like the side of a blue bus and most of the print media.

As long as you and your ilk get your tax breaks ...sadly that is what you value. That is why you all fund the Tory Party

I have said all along I have no problem paying my £50 a month so that we can have decent public services....

But that’s only 2010-2019, Toby. You’re choosing your data to fit your argument. They were ****s before that, too.

I'm just happy we have such a kind and caring government. Imagine what would happen if Corbyn came to power <yikes>
Please append any or all of the words ‘communist’, ‘Marxist’, ‘anti-Semite’ or ‘comrade of the IRA’ to his moniker so that your arguments are relatable to all.

The Labour manifesto is the greatest offer this country has had on the table since 1950. It will be rejected by the electorate, principally the English, because they are self-serving wan kers or easily (and by Christ, really easily!!!!) duped by the way the media portray this offer (or its figurehead).
The only thing to be thankful for is that the younger electorate have seen the sort of society they could choose, and they’re more caring than the wrinklies, so in the future thankfully we should have a kinder and fairer society. I am so sorry to them that many, many people of my age and older are so willing to screw so much up for the weakest in society, particularly those with the quietest voices (children, disabled etc.), for their own gain.

Parliament decides the rule of law. Paraliament is the centre of our democracy.
Parliamentt changes laws all the time....
This is a ridicuous argument and surely you have sense enough to realise.

Parliament voted to give the decision of EU membership to the people, they decided to leave.

Parliament voted to start the process to leave and continued to pass the necessary legislation at every stage.

Opportunists within parliament then forgot their previous endorsements and saw a belated chance to reverse the public's decision to leave the EU.
Hopefully the electorate will have enough sense to show their disgust at those MP's failing their duties. Many have already slid away to obscurity, large numbers of others will follow.
