Yes Andrew Marr was saying just that.. So looking to be a softer Brexit.
One other factor is that if a lot of Northern Tories are elected they will need to represent an electorate with a much stronger identification with public services...

One nation Tories looking after the working class. Labour has lost its soul.

I don't think any commentator is saying that.
Labour has lost its way but you can be sure they will regroup.
And you can be sure a Tory government will not deliver on the public services people need with the policies they have proposed.
There are always swings and roundabouts..

What we are already seeing is that if Johnson really does get this sort of majority he will be able to dump the ERG. This will give him far more room to extend the transition period which was always likely.

So you are hoping the Tories absolutely smash Labour?

Always going to be that the strong Brexit stance by the Tories would win them new friends in strong leave areas.

Can they maintain their support for the long term though once Brexit is "done"?

So, the working masses of the north have been successfully duped into believing that the EU was the cause of their poverty and Labour was punished for telling them the truth. Our resident troll is cock a hoop and is happy enough to gloat over his fellow posters. Britain is governed by a lier and a cheat, and the weather is bad outside :emoticon-0106-cryin But Christmas is coming !

Unfortunately our so called General Election turned out to be anything but 'General' and Labour (and others) were unable to steer the debate onto the normal wider election themes, and so it remained a one issue event motored by the most partisan media coverage ever - where fake news became the order of the day and such things as possible election bribery, or suppression of the publication of funding reports became 'one offs' as far as the media was concerned. So now the north of England in particular has voted for it's Brexit at all costs, forgetting that the flip side is that they have given a majority for five years to the party responsible for austerity. They have voted for bankers and speculators against nurses, the badly paid, the homeless and those reliant on food banks - and they will say 'democracy has been done'. And what democracy - once again a government will be lording it with a majority although 57% of voters voted against them - and, in this case hate them. So, the big loser is democracy itself - and the turkeys have, well and truly, voted for Christmas. I feel ashamed for my country this morning - other countries have statesmen representing them on the World stage - we have a lying, cheating clown. But life goes on - and the poor, who were convinced that the EU were the cause of their poverty, will realize that they are still poor in 5 years time (possibly even poorer) will then turn against the charlatans who deluded them.

This is music to my ears. Have the left learnt nothing?

Continue blaming everybody else for Labour's appalling loss and the electorate's revenge for those that tried to ignore the referendum result. This will ensure the Tories will never be seriously challenged again. Please keep pushing far left policies which will never be adopted by the UK public. Please keep Momentum running the show with the two Marx muppets in charge, brilliant.

It never ceases to amaze me how you and your ilk enjoy smearing your opposites as opposed to discuss the real issues.
The irony is that the Tories will oiw quietly have to introduce some of the very policies they derided in the Labour manifesto to keep the electorate happy. Boris has virtually admitted to that already this morning
This political stereotyping you engage in says ine hell of a lot about you...

The election was never about far left policies SH, it was about Brexit - about a delusion. When it comes down to such themes as renationalization the public are in support of Labour - many polls have shown that, but the Tories managed, with the help of the media, to deflect attention away from all non Brexit themes. There is however one ray of hope - Johnson now has the strength to take on your beloved ERG - we do not know if Johnson himself is a hard or a soft Brexiteer, but we may now find out. In fact I believe Johnson is neither a Brexiteer or a Remainer, but is an opportunist. One of his earlier quotes was ''The British public will never be stupid enough to vote for Brexit anyway'' - you may not remember that because you suffer from selective hearing - hence your user name. Now the question looms large - will the real Bojo now step forward !

You would be better spending your time asking why Labour has had their worst result since the 1930's, why the Tories have had their best result since the Thatcher days. You need to look at real issues and where it all went wrong, failure to do that will lead to repeated losses for the left.

The centre left Labour stalwarts are openly fuming at Momentum, they are putting equal blame on lefty politics along with Labour's faulty Brexit stance.
