I’ve been to New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jamshedpur - have no great desire to return

Personally, I blame the "smart" phone. Now don't get me wrong, vast swathes of humans have always been idiots. But never before has there been such an easy and successful way to control and vombify them. And of course, the knock on effect is that dumbing down to the nth degree is now the norm and so they multiply exponentially with new generations.
