Here's a random story (or not at all random possibly).

South Africa's lottery has just drawn 5,6,7,8,9 and 10.

 

Wonder if the odds are still 14m:1 if consecutive?

 

I thought any combination is the same odds?

I think those probabilities relate to a 49 ball lottery. I gave up when it became 58 balls as the probability increased to about one in 40 million (?). Then they tried to persuade the public that it was a great idea because "there are more balls you can choose from"!

 

Don't forget about putting the price up A lottery ticket should be no more than 50p.

There would have been 44 different consecutive number combinations:

1,2,3,4,5,6
2,3,4,5,6,7
Etc up to
44,45,46,47,48,49

So the odds of six consecutive numbers would be 14 million approx divided by 44=318000 approx.

Or am I talking total bullocks.
