I watched your game away to Blackpool at the weekend. Two of the biggest teams in the Championship and the stadium was half empty. I've seen your games on the highlights show too and your stadium's usually half empty.

Absolute nonsense!

As I posted in January...

I could take it further and look lower down the English Football League...

- There are 5 clubs in League One and 1 club in League Two with higher attendances than the 4th biggest Scottish club Hibs.
- There are 4 clubs in League One with higher attendances than the 3rd biggest Scottish club Hearts.

Should Southampton return to the top flight it will see a return to the 30,000+ averages in a 32,000 stadium they had in all four Premier League seasons at St Mary's. The chairman also wants to increase the stadium to 45,000+. Taking it close to Celtic's average. Not so "small little English team Southampton" as Celtic fans like to make out!

.............

In addition to all of that, the three remaining games at St Mary's this season will be 32k sellouts. Raising Southampton's average in the 2nd tier to around 27k or 28k.

You must be a little boy, Swearing on a forum and Wumming at another team because you don't have school this week. Bravo.. How clever are you, Your dad might even give you a gold star.

I think you need to go back to school if that's your idea of how to use the English language <doh>

Some pretty stupid arguments here on both sides. If you don't understand the meaning of the word "literally" then you're not going to hold up well in an argument. And to the cocky Celtic fan: I don't know why you think calling us a small club is an insult. Real fans don't pick their team based on its size. This probably says a lot about why you support Celtic. Winning all the time because there's no competition. Must be very hollow victories.

We haven't won the title for nearly four years so your argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny, I'm afraid.

Gary Hooper? The guy that isn't even scoring on a regular basis in Scottish Football? No thanks. I'd rather we went for someone with a bit more potential, like Jay Rodriguez.

Better being a smaller club in the best league in the world than the only team in the ****test league in the world.

Is this still going?

Diddy team from a diddy city.

One season getting spanked in the EPL then back to anonymity for you.

Yeah I hear that's what happens to all the teams with vast wealth and one of the best managers in the game.

P.S. As far as I know, P Diddy has no affiliation with the team or the city of Southampton.

Still no comment from you on post #121! Why not?

One season getting spanked in the EPL then back to anonymity for you.

Last time Saints were in the top flight they were there for 27 consecutive seasons. Average finishing position for Saints in those 27 years was 12th. For the majority of that time the English top flight had 22 teams in it. So averaging 12th, is mid table in the world's most high profile league. Hardly "anonymity" is it? I would say anonymity is playing in the SPL at stadiums holding 3,000 to 6,000 people.

That was all done without investment from the owner. Southampton now have an owner investing in the club. They are currently building a £15m state of the art training ground development, will be a category one academy under the EPPP proposals, have plans to expand St Mary's and have one of the best academies in the UK. Hardly "diddy" as you describe.

could there be a league that supports english, welsh and scottish clubs? if rangers and celtic were to join the english league then that would surely mean the end of a worthwhile scottish league, but if they do not join then it will just carry on being a boring two horse race with the occasional aberdeen blip- abit like spanish football minus the skill, money and world class players. if i was a jock then i would want my team playing against teams of similar ability and striving to be better- but i think that they fear they would maybe only just survive in the EPL and maybe end up in the championship
