The standard of the English game is dropping , look how Norwich and Swansea are coping in the epl with basically a team of journey men . If that Wigan / man city last night had been an spl match we would laughing at the standard , the English don't do that their league is the greatest in the world !!!!!

I have to say I have been sat back reading all the celtic - saints threads the last few days with amazement. The amount of animosity that exists between the two clubs purely because, we have bid for one of their players.

And on the this is celtic forum, jesus the language from their supports, telling adkins to **** off etc.. Makes me chuckle!!

Can't be bothered to read back to who started it (who cares) but it doesn't help to insult Scottish football. It is what it is...a league heavily dominated by 2 clubs. Wouldn't happen here because most people support their local club (Man United fans aside:emoticon-0100-smile). We are entitled to offer for a player and Celtic are entitled to turn it down. End of story.

Some of you people are like school kids. Arguing about who is the bigger club, who has achieved the most, who has the most money. Whats wrong with you lot? Southampton has bid for a Celtic player and has every right to. Celtic have every right to except or turn down the bid. All the schoolboy arguing that is going on here is way out of context. Celtic are not such a big club that they cannot be approached. They are just another club looking to make money out of football. If the deal is right for the club and the player he will leave. The speculation on whether he will or will not on this Forum is just that, speculation. It is not worth the insults being banded about in regards to either club. Whether their adventures in the European Competitions is easier to obtain or not is another argument altogether. Same goes for the standard of football in Scotland, another argument altogether. You have to wander though when you see the same two teams fighting at the top of the league year in year out, with gaps as big as 19/20 points difference between 1st and 3rd half way through a season. It really does not say much for the rest does it.

Chill, Winston. We're just winding up the haggis noshers.

Couldn't help yourself, could you? You could have just left it at "we've made a bid, it's up to them to accept" but no, you had to go on to have a dig at Scottish football.

That's what's been happening throughout this thread and the previous ones. Some of the Soton fans seem perplexed at the thought that someone would choose Celtic over Southampton. So caught up are they in the Sky-induced myth that England is some kind of footballing Mecca that it simply defies logic that someone would choose to play elsewhere.

When you read comments like "the SPL is a joke league" or that the "entire Celtic team isn't worth £35m" is it any surprise that we go on the defensive? I don't mind reasoned debate but I refuse to put with being patronised by fans of a club who have neither the history nor the worldwide appeal of Celtic.

Our history is as important to us as yours is to you, and in it's own way equally rich and varied.

Absolutely. But to the neutral, Celtic is a well known club around the world.

Anyway, back on topic, Soton are expected to make a bid of £6m in the next 48 hours and Celtic are expected to reject it. Will there be a further bid?

Who gives a toss if there is another bid? A case of my uncles, cousins, best mate works behind the bar and he says this. Nobody knows if we will make another bid because we don't go shouting and crying to the media anytime there is interest in a player like a certain chimpanzee lookalike.

Third & final bid in today apparently then they will move on to Sharpe/Rhodes I imagine.

I heard much the same.

Aren't the valuations for Rhodes pretty wild as well, though?

And isn't half the EPL after him as well? Last I heard, the teams interested in him were Rangers, Celtic, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, Arsenal, Man City, QPR, Blackburn, WBA, Sunderland and Melchester Rovers.

<laugh> Southampton are a diddy team that mean **** all in terms of global football.

Ask any Barcelona, Bayern Munich, AC Milan fan who Celtic are and they'll tell you in a second.

Ask them who Southampton are and they'll give you a vacant stare then reply with one of the following words: "Que?" "Wer?" and "Chi?"

xavi's footballing idol was matt le tissier. im pretty sure he can educate his barca teammates <ok>
