The furthest they have ever been in the FA Cup is still that 5th round defeat v Hull City at Boothferry Park.
I think having those clubs around them is a bonus when recruiting young players. Also being a London club will do them no harm. Young players would sign for them in the hope of being spotted by the other London clubs, same goes for anyone showing a bit of promise in the non league game, in which Brentford seem to thrive.
2-0 if I recall. Don't think we played 'em too many times before that cup match. We were in 3rd Div N. and they were in 3rd Div S. for much of the 40's, 50's & 60's, so rare cup games only. I remember Wally Bragg, centre half in the 50's, who somehow was on one of the cig cards - I think it was Players or Capstan Full Strength editions ? Paul Feasey was in the same selection if my (failing) memory serves me correctly. ? I've played on the same team with an ex-Brentford player over here, so I always watch for their results. Edit: See , my memory's ****. Thanks for the clip P W-U Confused it with City beating Southport 2 nowt in the 5th in '66 !
I'm two footed FER ARK. I shoot from both the left & right hips. I'm occasionally offside. Spot on about the eye test Cheers Ern
