I do agree with you. Just think we are drawing the lines differently as to where the moral duty lies. I’m more in the “take what’s offered” camp (even if it shouldn’t be offered).

People with money to burn take child benefit because it's there ...

... and claim free TV licences for no other reason than it's offered.

I've no idea where morality lies these days, certainly not with the government.

Is that the same idiots that introduced it to save an awful lot of businesses that would/could easily have gone bust 'cos of this dreadful, and unprecedented, pandemic . . . . and have done so successfully ?

The basis of the idea was sound, the actual scheme was like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut ...

... too much money went to people who didn't really need it.

Ive been reminded that one of the conditions of the governments furlough scheme is that employers can’t add to their wage bill during it.

Could this be why we haven’t had any contract extension announcements or new signings?

Would seem utterly bonkers if so. But I also can’t see how we’d be allowed to claim furlough if adding to our wage bill?

If it makes everyone feel better just imagine it's my Furlough pay that you'll be paying back. If ends in 2 days when I'll be without a job (for now). I've been spending my lovely furloughed year and a bit keeping my family safe. HWTL
