    Ok. One more from me.

The greatest ever no. 2 - when the charts actually meant something!

If I have anything to do with it my funeral will be utterly godless. But if it wasn’t......

You can thank Stainsey for the resurrection of this thread.

    Depends how I croak.

If it’s after an illness and kind of expected then it has to be Varou by Sigur Ros. This is about as moving a piece of music as I have heard.

If I were to die from heart failure in bed with twins after a heavy night of drinking and debauchery (beyond unlikely, I’ll be the first to admit) then it has to be Fiesta by the Pogues. I have always thought this would be a better song for HQ than Pigbag too.

I was at two funerals in two days a couple of weeks back, both cremations. The first was my wife's sister-in-law who was 73 and had been ill for some time. Her favourite music was Abba and Cliff Richard, so we had a bit of both, with the final piece as the the curtains closed around the coffin being Devil Woman! A little surprising at a religious service.

The second funeral was of a work colleague who had died suddenly and this was a civil service. He was a West Ham fan, and as we entered the chapel we were treated to I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles by the Cockney Rejects. This was the second civil funeral I have been to and I have to say that these services are much more personal and consequently much more moving than religious ones. The service is conducted by a 'celebrant' and that's what a funeral should be, the celebration of a life. That's how I want to be seen off.

I re read this thread, it’s an old one with some long gone posters, and somewhere on it I wrote that I had given my funeral no thought, and didn’t really intend to.

This remains the case, though this is a fun thread

Your other half has good taste. That track is a fitting end to a great album so it is probably symbolic for her.

Still can’t decide which one i’d prefer at my bash....both are emotional but for me right now it’s the original NIN version

Another one for my ever growing list of songs at my bash, a cover of a classic Joy Division song but done in a deep, emotional way. June has an amazing voice.

  14. My mum is devout Catholic so will have the big church send off but would like to be cremated. She said for that she wants In My Life by the Beatles. Pretty perfect for a lady who saw them at the Kilburn State back in the 60s :)
I'd quite like one that reminds everyone of the person I was so it's a toss up between Charmless Man by Blur or Too Drunk to **** by Dead Kennedys <whistle>

Since I first heard this a few years ago I've always thought this would provide a beautiful send-off...

Once again Stainsey has caused this thread to be resurrected.

I still like picking songs but have no interest in what, if anything, is played at my funeral, or even if I have a funeral.

I’d like them to play a recording from Loftus Road of when we relegated Luton about a decade ago and got to sing the “going down” song.
