This is somewhat morbid, but I was at a funeral last year where Python's 'Bright Side Of Life' was played. I know it sounds cringeworthy, but in context it was appropriate, funny, and strangely moving. It made me consider what I would like to have played at my own funeral, so I made a list. I won't bore you with the whole list, but this came top. What would yours be?
I want this played at my cremation when that time comes. My mates would get it as it's a reflection of the silly sod I am and against the norm of what people would expect at a sending off.. I'm not kidding, I just wish I could be there to see the looks on everyone's face as the curtains close with this playing in the background!
Stroller, a weird but I bet popular thread theme mate. I was not kidding about my choice, it may change as life (I hope) carry's on. I want mine to be as silly as it can be.
My other half has always said she wants Decades by Joy Division (good documentary on them on BBC4 tonight BTW). Now I can't listen to that song and I really liked it. I've always said something by Westlife - I want everyone to be in tears at my funeral.
I've instructed my better half to hand out onions to the same effect at my funeral. Song? Let's go out swinging! 'Disco Inferno' by the Trammps (1976)
she still thinks she can control us at 4 30 in the morning the forum is mine all mine heeheeheeheehee
Drop Kick Murphy's - "Going out in style" Dont know how to post a youtube link but if you get a chance check it out! Top lyrics including: "You may bury me with an enemy in mount calvary You can stack me on a pyre and soak me down with whisky Roast me to a blackened crisp and throw me in a pile I don't really give a ****................I'm going out in style! You can take my urn to fenway, spread my ashes all about Or you can bring me down to wolly beach and dump the sucker out Burn me to a rotten crisp and toast me for a while I don't really give a ****....................I'm going out in style!"
Bore us with the whole list, Strolls! Could include a host of Smiths/Morrissey stuff, especially There is a Light that Never Goes Out (except I don't believe that); I Have Forgiven You Jesus (too much irony?) or Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want. Classical look no further than Mahler 5th Symphony 4th movement, Adagietto. Led Zeps In My Time of Dying is probably the song I'd keep on the desert island, but somehow not right for my funeral.......so today's choice is: "We're sick and tired of all this self serving greiving"
