There was a BBC news report last Thursday lunchtime from outside a petrol station somewhere down south. There were a few cars waiting to get onto a very small forecourt and a long line of traffic waiting to get past the queue as it was a single carriageway main road. The reporter bigged up the fact that some people were queuing yet at the end of the report, almost as an aside, said that they had to drive past five garages with no queues to find one that did.
I have driven past ten petrol stations around the Hull area today, all but one had fuel and there were vehicles in and no queues.

My Mrs had the Passat GTE Hybrid which did about 30 miles on a full charge. That’s just gone back as she’s finally seen sense and opted out of the company car scheme.

Will she be sticking to elec/hybrid or going back to the dark side. For me personally a elec/hybrid only makes sense due to it being a company car and the BIK benefits it gives me. In the real world of me funding the car myself and all the associated costs, the cheaper to buy and run diesel version of the exact same car would win.... For now

She got promoted and the new grade gave her the option to opt out. She could have kept her company car but the charges were obscene. So she has gone back to the dark side as she wanted a 7 seater. I think I’ll look at an EV when I change again, I do quite like the Model 3 Performance, the range and Tesla super charger network make it almost workable.

I'll be due a change in 18months time and I still think it will be to early for full electric and the charging times with the amount of miles I do. But I may be swayed if the BIK rates for the following years are published by then and it makes scary reading!

The Tesla's are great especially in ludicrous mode haha

Earlier in the summer I test rode a Zero electric motorcycle - at my age I doubt I'll ever get one but, the one I rode was equivalent of a 250/350cc normal bike and the acceleration was absolutely staggering; I doubt my upright 1000cc sport tourer could get anywhere near it - its the future!

I am thinking of getting a Peugeot e208 next Spring when my current car goes back. Tesla's are the electric versions of Audis and Mercs - bought strictly for the badge and the privilege of having your bank account emptied once every six months when the next service clicks around.

Servicing costs for EVs are a total myth. They don’t really have anything that needs servicing! Brakes you barely use, as there’s a lot of regeneration. Maybe they’re trying to sell you an oil change in your EV?

Teslas are what they are. They have the best charging network by an absolute mile and the supercharging is pretty quick, which is again a key point.

Pre-pandemic, the only cars at work that were electric were the fleet of large BMW and Mercedes and 1 Tesla, that the 'senior managers' got through company car scheme, though most just seemed to drive to work and plug their cars in for free 'fuel' all day...
No mere mortals had an electric car

A month ago, there was no petrol shortage, have suddenly in the last month hundreds of lorry drivers disappeared? No, the media is to blame and people are stupid enough to start panic buying again IMO.
