Just checking that I haven't come back from France through a wormhole and stepped into a parallel dimension.

In your opinion, who has played better as a keeper for Southampton this season?

Can I also just clarify - this isn't a slight on the person that you don't choose. It's just an opinion as to who you feel has had the better season.

I know I've never really rated Forster but this is a no brainer surely?

Nah Dell Reed 1964 has been saying Forster has better stats this season.

I've never rated Forster so maybe this has clouded my judgement of him but he really has been poor this year and if we end up going down by just a couple of points he will have had a big role to play in that (along with others)

Well yes, I would have thought so too, but I appear to be being castigated for such an opinion on the Arsenal thread! I'm just checking that my belief was true that most people think AM the better keeper right now. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

I think he's the better keeper full stop to be honest, but don't think there can be any debate about who's performed better this year.

McCarthy for me, because of the following.
He is more agile and seems to get down quicker to low shots.
When he comes for crosses his first choice is to catch the ball, relieving the pressure, whereas I feel Forster would mainly punch clear keeping the pressure on, if the ball falls unkindly.
He generally keeps hold of shots better, rather than let them bounce off his chest.
His starting position for collecting balls over the top is better, plus his movement towards the ball is more decisive, as in you know he will come for it.
I think the main positive in FFs favour is his size, which makes him better in facing 1-1 situations and blocking shots.

This season, McCarthy.

However, Forster was a top keeper prior to his injury. I feel he lost confidence and his commanding presence fizzled out as he did trust himself.

I think people are overly harsh on him, but that’s what football fans like to do. Especially Saints fans.

I agree on the whole.
