I don't think many people ever thought it would be easy to bring a Premiership striker to Hull City. There are a whole range of obstacles to overcome, of which competition from other clubs is just one.

Even when we got into the premiership we struggled to bring in a premiership striker Cousin Ghilas etc.... That's why I still think Billy Sharp is a possibility

I'm no analyst but I feel we really need someone who can sprint and get on the end of those endless crosses coming from Elmo and Brady - our present forwards seem to be half a yard slow when it matters - not criticising them, just sayin'.

It just said on radio humber sports news that Celtic are very interested in Campbell, it may not be has easy has many fans think bringing in a top striker

I like Campbell but I have to say that if he chooses a one club league over the Championship or PL then he is welcome to it, more fool him!

If FC joined Celtic, for me it is not even Championship level the SPL. OK have the champions league but they will be out in the next round. If he wants to prove himself as a top striker, then coming up here is a backward step.

I beg to differ, he's a different player, we're a better side. He won't be any better than what we currently have at the club.

Agree with you. FC is past tense imo. HIS NOT WHAT WE NEED AT ALL. WHAT WE NEED NOW IN THE SHORT TERM IS KEVIN PHILLIPS. Someone who has a football brain and is lethel from in and around the 6 yard box. That player is Kevin Phillips. imo

The sign of a goal scrounger. I'd rather have Danny Graham.

Problem is that a few PL teams are after him and it looks like he will stay PL for this season sadly.

I don't get the clamour with Danny Graham. He is on his way out of Swansea as he is deemed not suitable to Laudrups tippy tappy football style, so we want him to fit in with our tippy tappy style.
We don't need to buy a striker now as we would be overpaying. We need the next Fraizer Campbell - some hungry young striker from a Premier League team on loan. I don't have a name, but that Guidetti had he not been on loan at Feyenoord would have been an option

Dany Graham scored 13 goals for Rodgers tippy tappy Swansea team last season. But he is not short of offers for a PL move in January. The only and it is the only chance Hull City have of signing him for the rest of the season would be if Swansea just preferred to Loan him out to a championship club. Sadly i dont see that happening.

I just want a striker who can get in the box and has the ability to finish. With brady and elmo the person doesnt need to be a wonder goal scorer. If that is campbell so be it, if it is graham so be it. We need someone that is for sure.

Steve Morison is the other Big possible for us. He will get pushed down the pecking order IF Norwich sign up CMS now.

His Championship record reads 15 goals in 34 games and we're in the Championship, that's the only stat you need.
Simpson, McLean and Proschwitz don't come close to having his ability.

4 seasons ago. We are a much better team now than 2008 and FC would not imo stand out in this team. It also appears that this debate is now futile as it looks like FC is off to Celtic and easy money and medals. Plus champions league football. SPL is welcome to FC.
I also think that Proschwitz is a better player than FC just that he has yet to show it with us so far.

I've already answered that point. Steve Morison is the same but I'm sure he'd be a good signing. Do you expect us to sign someone who is getting games at PL level? Why would they want to come to us if they were?

I agree with you over Steve Morison. This player is not afraid to get hurt where it matters most. So its one from Phillips or Morison then.

The problem with Billy Sharp would be his wages. He earns 40k a week @ Saints and he is not worth that. Dont think he would come here now anyway. We had our chance last season imo.

He can go to Celtic with my full blessing.
Don't want him, or his father, anywhere near this club again.

With you 100% on this John.

Easy money and medals John. Just typical of the Campbell mentallity. The fact that Sunderland are struggling for goals and MON does not hardly play him says it all. Let FC go to the SPL imo.

You might want the next F. Campbell , but I'd prefer the next W. Rooney <whistle>

Billy Sharps name keeps coming up on these threads but he cannot play for us this season on a anything other than an emergency loan. He's played for Southampton and forest already this season and you can't play for anyone else else unless its classed as an emergency loan. Emergency loans can only happen once the main window has closed again and then only last a max of 93 days. Just can't see us going for sharp because of these reasons.

Couldn't agree more with you Cool, this Hull City side breaks quickly and sometimes crosses are going into the box and our forwards seem just half a yard behind, we have the brains of Koren and the trickery of Aluko but i do think its important we bring in someone with pace

Actually how about Cameron Stewart. The guy has ability. What he needs now is the hard work discipline and application. Perhaps he'll look at Aluko and think that could be me

I think Rod Stewart would be better right now, Cameron has struggled at Burnley, can,t see him forcing his way into the starting 11 anytime soon, other than the fa cup game.

Emergency loans can happen at any time, McShane when he initially went out to Palace last season for example, but the rest is correct. If we were to go after Sharp we'd have to work out which games in the next 5 months we wanted him to miss, and I suspect we'd be looking at sacrificing the start of January (ie FA Cup 3rd Round) and the playoffs (rather have him for more of the guaranteed 46 than for the 3 we hopefully won't need) with the rest made up of the breaks. I don't think Bruce would like the idea of losing his main striker at the end of the normal season if we have slipped into the playoffs.

Remembering it and saying it at the time are two different things ric ...............

You want to guess who started the thread at the time about his comments on MOTD and asking if anyone thought we should be looking at him? (There was at least one other person put his name forward as well)

I dont imagine the transfer fee + 4 year contract would be more that 4mil! Can you imagine the meeting between FCs dad and the Allams lol...

Alright lads.

Frazier very rarely gets long enough on the park to make an impact, and even more than that he NEVER gets a game up front under MON, as he doesn't hold the ball up well enough.

I don't think the injuries have damaged him as such, he just needs a run of regular games to get back to his level, problem I see is we won't give him that cos he is nowhere near Fletcher's nstandard, and you guys are in a promotion chase and can scarcely afford to give him 4-5 games to blast of his ring rustiness.

I can see him signing for you on a free at the end of the season, as I don't see him being offered a contract at all with us, he just hasn't done anything to warrant one.

He'll be a smashing Championship player, and realistically, the only way he'll be ready for the Premier is to get promoted with, and stick with a same team and carry that into the next season.

He's a top, top lad, but he's a gamble for a club with a lot at stake, Danny Graham, he would hit the ground running and add 10 goals and 4-5 assists this season.

When Frazier did well for us, he was upfront with one Sir Dean Windass. Who held the ball up and did all that for him, making them the perfect pair teamed with Fraziers pace and finishing ability, he needs a bit of a go in the Championship to find his goals again.
