There's a lot of BS flying around about Fraizer Campbell at the moment and our ability to figure out what the hell is going on is not helped by David Burns failing to ask the correct questions to Steve Bruce. Yet again yesterday he blandly said, any new on the Fraizer Campbell transfer. What a shyte non-specific question that is! He should have simply asked "Steve, have you been in contact with MON about Fraizer Campbell and, if so, have you made an offer for him?" Instead SB was able to go into his non-specific answer which is "Yes, we'd be interested if a deal could be done" rubbish, which says absolutely nothing.
It doesn't give that impression on this link, though he is probably seeing who he can get in, before he make a decision on Campbell. http://www.sunderland-mad.co.uk/new...block_on_campbell_transfer_777687/index.shtml
I hope you're right. The sooner we get someone in to convert all the chances we create the better, but it has to be someone who fits into the existing structure. Campbell fits the bill but I still haven't forgiven the ****!......................yet!
He'd have egg on his face if he came out and said Campbell can leave then got nobody in to replace him. Goals will be a healer strov
Put it this way to those who haven't forgiven Campbell and Papa Campbell for what happened a few years ago. Number 1 - we don't know the exact dealings between them and our previous regime. Number 2 if he scores the goals to get us better results than the teams below us (Middlesbrough, Palace, Leicester etc) then we get promoted - simples, and isn't that what we, the manager and coaching staff and the Allams all want
Yeah - just get him on a loan. He'll (hopefully) help us in the race for promotion. Then **** him off...... And his old man too!
After some of the things that MON has been saying to the press recently I would treat everything he says with a pinch of salt. Think all the rumours about FC have been quietly started by him.
MON has no credibility. He said 4 or 5 times he had either recalled meyler or was going to do it. If we sign campbell MON will say he is thinking of resigning him the day after.
I think MON had every intention of recalling Meyler. Steve Bruce changed his mind for him by dangling £1.5m in front of his nose, thats why Meyler never went back.
At one point he actualy said he had already recalled him and burnsy and swanny joked that perhaps Bruce hadnt checked his voice mail because he was out on the pitch. I think the man is whacked.
Not quite as I see it - MON never wanted Meyler back. He was making the point that if we wanted to treat him as ours, we should buy him and not take advantage of a loan. It was a polite way of saying we can do what we want as he is ours. He wanted rid and wanted £ rather than a loan so forced our hands. If he'd have needed Meyler, he'd have been back in a flash. Not sure what the bilge above is about MON having no credibilty?! He just took £1.5 million off us rather than lend us a player for nowt (bar wages). He worked it well and forced our hand. Bruce would have been much happier signing a season loan deal (in fact we know by the comments the cash coming from summer's budget). Some posters seem to think MON looks daft - we might both be happy, but he's happier.
The credibility issue isnt that he didnt make a good decision and that getting 1.5 million for him wasnt a good idea. I agree, we are happy he is happy. But it is that he lied to his fans, all I mean is that you can not trust what he is saying. At one point he said, I have done this, it turned out, he had in fact not done that. That is a lie, and you lose crediablity when you lie. I do not mean that he wont make the best decision for his team. I am concerned that Campbell seems to be our only target man. With wood, and davies now signed up I certainly dont think we will get 2 strikers in and one seems to be up in the air right now as well.
I see Swansea are being linked with Kenwyne Jones as Sunderland's chase for Danny Graham hots up. Like selling a house, the completion of this chain could be what releases Campbell.
WIthout a doubt, once Sunderland bring in a striker, I think we will see FC free to go. Whether he comes here is a different matter.
Why? Campbell isn't the only striker we are after, that'd be absurd on Bruce's part. He's outlined the need for a goalscorer and a goalkeeper. I don't think he'll sign two or three strikers (as somebody else mentioned), we only need the one and as I said previously and given that the money is coming out of his summer budget, I think SB will settle for one and then see where we are when the loan window shuts in March, which is where you would see cover come in.
He'd certainly get a bigger wod in the Summer if we get promoted too, so maybe he's willing to make that extra risk. I'd go for Vito Mannone and Fraizer Campbell. Seems logical and Mannone would be much cheaper than Stockdale at the moment unless this £4million that Jol has apparently slapped on him is just paper talk. I can't see Campbell staying at Sunderland and he'd be stupid to go to another EPL side really, he may just get the same amount of gametime that he did at Sunderland.
I think that so far everything has gone to plan. Loans now bought, Elmo subject to parent club's deals (what was expected?), Stockdale same, striker tbc; it's just the 2nd week of Jan ffs. Focus on Sheffield Wed - they are keeping under the radar and would love our scalp!
How bothered are some of you with the idea of a player seemingly hesitant to sign for us, coming to our club and playing for us. I actually forgive him for what happened last time, I can understand waiting for a prem club to come in for you rather than stepping down, especially when you played for man u and spurs previously but it seems this deal is stalling not necessarily because of MON but because he's once again weighing up his options What worries me as well is how much emphasis is bruce putting on getting promoted this season to any new signings we have (including meyler and brady). If we don't go up, I am a bit worried about having a team full of players who will jump **** as soon as they realise we haven't managed to get promoted
