The financial aspects are interesting and endlessly variable. As we've seen the same set of figures can be construed in entirely different ways. It's called creative accounting and it's fascinating to see it in action. But it can remove a situation from reality and obliterate common sense.
The basic question is this ...
... would American based businessmen really have any interest in being on the fringes of a football club in the far NE of England as some kind of minor shareholder or itinerant lender?
People like these want at least one of profit/excitement/kudos and preferably all three ...
... none of which are available as bit part players.

We both know my reply to him was below the belt. He’s pushed and pushed for weeks now and this time he tagged me in a status and put more meat on the bones of his wording to the point I knew he couldn’t backtrack or deny what he meant.
I took that as open season and fired off some shots of my own. I’ve always been adamant that when two people clash it’s not for anybody but them to decide what level of response is appropriate and, what isn’t.
I’ve no issue nobody getting involved these last few weeks at him prodding me with his racist jibes. I prefer it that way, it has nothing to do with anybody else. I resent it when my reply is noted and commented on and his provocation is ignored.
He must be one seriously unhappy bloke to spend his days on here getting kicks out of making people bite. Can anybody confirm he is a Sunderland supporter? I’ve got my suspicions he’s a mag on a wind up. He’s literally got nothing positive to ever say about our club.

Obviously it's very exciting that prospective owners have had studies done on so much of the club. It suggests they have real ambition.
It's also very frustrating that Donald put barriers up to the deal, in a very poor way. Suddenly asking for more money is not a very good business move.
Having said that, I wouldn't be too fussed if this all stays on hold until the end of the season now. Things are going steadily and I wouldn't like this season to be derailed yet again by takeover talk.
As part of my security work I spent time with some very clever internet trackers who'd locate people who owed money, had cars I needed to repo, etc.
They'd track them through mobile numbers, social security numbers, insurance companies, banks, hospitals,etc.
A lot of it was no doubt illegal but that wasn't my problem.
One of the ways they'd try to find people was by searching forums for key words and multiple uses of the same phrases. I expect we all repeat ourselves over time and 'identify' ourselves.
Anyway, the point of all this is that some of these people would be posting on multiple forums which is sad enough. But they'd be wildly different and they'd have a 'persona' for each one. The lengths to which they'd go to create a 'character' and remember that character's traits was freaky. But the way they'd hold entirely different opinions, on different forums, was beyond belief.
One of these lunatics was arguing that a Spanish kidnap gang had taken the McCann girl on one forum ...
... and accusing the parents on another!!!
Certainly appears that way.
Unless Donald stumbles upon some poor sod prepared to pay close to his asking price it all points to it being if not when they take over imho.
