In fairness smug, I've responded to that post in the same way that I responded here. Put simply, she comes at this from the position of someone literally giving this advice for a living at the same or (usually) greater level as FPP requested.
Grumpy knows his stuff. No doubt, but as I said, the specialisation(s) involved are complex enough to consider the opinion of someone who does it day in, day out in far more complex scenarios. It doesn't mean she's right, but it does mean that she can give examples on this.
A good one is the chain of companies. It's actually very desirable for that chain to be bigger as she gave an example of a footba club that needs to be kept two entities away from it's directors in order to have the banks deal with their facilities. That's standard practice. It doesn't mean the owners aren't injecting all the capital and believe me, they're mega rich, but they generally do so via a uk bank rather than by a standard entity to entity transfer.
Man City even have a charge over them from Barclays that allows them to spend tv money in advance if needed. Basically those options are easier for the bank, the bigger the chain is, because it limits risk a bit more at every turn.
I can't go into any more detail as that's her opinion and I'm not in any way qualified to contradict it.

Another question......if Donald then started ****ing them about with additional demands,why did they make the loan?
I think that's because they really want to buy the club mate.
Giving Donald money, when he's under pressure, is how loan sharks operate ...

There's certainly no love lost between them and they really disliked Methven.
Quite interesting given he states he brought them to the table!

So could that be why Donald is (seemingly) being difficult with them and/or looking to find alternative buyers?
When I asked that question I was laughed at mate.
As the chap pointed out Dell had previously agreed to buy Newcastle and are actively looking to be involved in the UK the way they are in the US. They know Ellis Short to a degree as well.
So they could easily find their way to England, and the SOL, without the help of a pumped up salesman like Methven.
I always thought that was the case.
We all really need/want this to be sorted soon. I just fear Donald's pissing about will go too far.

Get your point, but I’d only replied to a post on this thread that implied Newcastle. I never post on Sunderland topics, only in general.
I know mate, as it's an important thread and touchy subject it's a bit of a minefield.
I think we should start a rumour that FPP are buying Newcastle ...

For those of us who love football in general,it's good to have different and varied points of view. It's just a pity we're 2 divisions apart at the minute,we have almost no current common ground. I go back to the days in the 50's and 60's when my uncle had a season ticket at both clubs and went to whichever was at home on a weekly basis. He talked of Milburn and the Robledos with the same affection as Ford,Daniels,Elliott and Shackleton.
Mind you,if they were both drawn at home in the cup,he always went to Roker!

But they were gentler, more pleasant days, before the media started to hype everything up.

I'm not asking what, if you do know something, just a simple yes or no.
I'm not defending Donald either, I'm very much in the "best for the club" camp and I'm not fussed how that is achieved.
I think there's just a tendency to vilify Donald. Not entirely sure why, he's not as bad as some people make out. A bit naive and a bit over excitable but I really don't think he means any harm.
