You may mock, but the generation born between about 1948 and about 1965 in the developed west is the best educated, best travelled and materially richest in the history of the world. And you will be paying for our pensions.

Of course, some of us unfortunately missed the boat.....bad luck Imaz. But I'm sure you got a bit of the good stuff - free high quality education, guilt free gas guzzling cars and flights (global warming - its all our fault and we don't care!), pre AIDs sex....and we are reliably rated as the best looking generation ever too.
The down side is that our offspring are all semi feral oafs that we will have to look after and pay for in perpetuity.
At least when we bought a tally back in the 60s it lasted for few years. Now all the gadgets are updated every 5 minutes and all the mugs go out and buy yet another one becaue "the new one is a bit quicker, or has a new button, or the screen in 6mm wider, etc".
Why is this country in a financial mess? Because technology is changing so rapidly that people are spending more and more on updating their gadgets ... which are all made abroad. That's where our money goes, straight out of the country. For instance, on average a person under 30 years of age changes their phone at least once every 10 months!
The shameful thing is that many of the "updates" could have been included in previous versions, but they are kept back to sell another "updated version" 6 months to a year down the line and they then get the mugs to part with even more of their money just to be trendy.

I just made your date of birth span Sylvio, what a day this is! First I visited an extremely pleasant lady doctor who gave me a big hug when I left! I must have seen hundreds of lady doctors in me life but none ever gave me one of them before!! Now you tell me all this, great stuff. Pity QPR don't have a game this evening.....
The best of days! Loved the 80's and still do. Now I romanticize about it a bit to much maybe, you only remember the good things I know (if it was the opposite it would be quite sad

Quality secret, best years 60/70's & as grinning said eat & drink without any fuss, no soding computers or mobiles, christ now you can't be without them, i'm proud to have my freedom pass.
Seems another world when ALL the shops were closed on Sundays and even Wednesday afternoons !!
And we actually had to put some effort into our homework and visit a Libarary rather than google the answer as the kids do now.
And I was amazed at how wonderful the games were on my Atari 2600 (Defender was the dogs nuts)
And how it was a big event when 'Channel 4' came along (spawning many a 'Joey' childhood insult).
And how proud I was with my new Casio watch that not only told the time but also had a calculator (thus getting it banned from exams)
I could go on forever at those memories.......

Who remembers this game - god did I get some blisters on my finger playing this. I was always used to wait until my brother ran out of ball-bearings then would unleash a torrent of firepower on him!!! - always ended in an argument!!! LOL

We also had cars that we could work on outside our front door. Oh the joy of ball joint splitters and sub frames.
Crossfire was brilliant. My mate over the road had this and Rebound and we were always round his!
Great stuff, Secret. Yep, I'm officially one of those Old Gits to which you refer as I remember every single image shown. I even have the Best of Billy Joel on SD card in the car with that song and can croon a mean "Just The Way You Are" if called upon.
The R Whites secret lemonade drinker was a great Ad of the era, as what the Shake n' Vac one. The Hamlet cigars and 'Only Heineken can do this...' Ads were also highlights.
